FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I serve this cake?

This cake is best enjoyed when it’s chilled and since it’s made with whipped topping, it has to be refrigerated when you aren’t serving it.

What else can I add to the frosting?

Add even more Oreo flavor to this cake by adding some more crushed Oreos or broken Oreo pieces directly into the frosting.

What other frosting can you use?

If you don’t want to make your own frosting, you can use regular vanilla frosting, buttercream frosting, milk chocolate frosting or whatever other flavor combination that you desire.

How to store leftover cake?

Leftover cake can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week. You can freeze this for up to 3 months in a freezer safe container.
Additionally, it’s important to remember that the crushed Oreos will soften over time. If you think you’ll have leftovers, you’ll want to wait to add the crushed Oreos until you’re serving it, otherwise it won’t last as long.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)

  • Devil’s food cake mix – you can swap this out for any other chocolate flavored cake mix will do.
  • ingredients needed to make cake: usually eggs, oil and water (use the amounts that are on the box of the cake mix you purchased since the amounts may vary between brands).
  • sweetened condensed milk – if you’ve never bought sweetened condensed milk, it will be in the baking aisle. Be careful though, it is usually right next to the evaporated milk. You do not want that. So look at the labels carefully.
  • chocolate syrup – I like to use Hershey’s chocolate syrup but you can use the store brand as well.
  • whole milk – I like the richness the whole milk brings but you could use 2% milk.
  • instant chocolate pudding mix – please make sure it is instant and not the ‘cook and serve’ pudding. Sometimes the word “instant” is really small on the box so pay attention. The cook and serve pudding will not work here.
  • whipped topping – the brand name is “Cool Whip”. You want to grab the bigger tub (16 ounces).
  • Oreo cookies – you can actually have a lot of fun with this recipe and use all kinds of different cookies. I think the Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies would be amazing on this!

HOW TO MAKE OREO BETTER THAN SEX CAKE

Prepare and bake the cake per the directions on the back of the cake mix box. While the cake is baking, in a small bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup until combined well.

Once the cake is out of the oven, while it’s still warm, use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the cake. Drizzle the condensed milk and chocolate syrup mixture all over the cake. You can use a spatula to help distribute the mixture into the holes, making sure it soaks in rather than running off the sides.

Let the cake cool down to room temperature. Once the cake has cooled, prepare the topping by whisking together whole milk and pudding mix until it’s smooth. Then, whisk in the chocolate syrup. Gradually add the whipped topping, whisking it in a little at a time until it’s fully incorporated. It might have some small lumps, which is okay.

Spread the whipped topping mixture generously over the cake. Don’t hold back; use it all. Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 6 hours to chill and set. If you can, leaving it overnight is even better. When you’re ready to serve, sprinkle crushed Oreos on top.
