Strawberry Fields Salad (+Video)
Strawberry Fields Salad recipe is inspired by the one at Wendy’s. Full of greens, grilled chicken, strawberries and a sweet balsamic dressing.
A FRESH SUMMER SALAD
I could pretty much eat some type of salad every. single. day. I love seasonal salads. I love creating salads with whatever I have on hand. And I especially love making salads that are a whole meal in one. This salad checks off all of those boxes. If summertime had an official salad – it would be this one! Crunchy lettuce, feta cheese, glazed pecans, grilled chicken, onions, bacon and fresh strawberries all combine to make the most amazing meal.

TIPS FOR MAKING THIS STRAWBERRY SALAD:
- You can certainly make your own balsamic dressing (see recipe at the bottom of the post.) It’s the same dressing that I use in this recipe for PASTA SALAD WITH SWEET BALSAMIC DRESSING. Or you can go with a store-bought version.
- To make this even easier, you can use the grilled and sliced chicken breasts that are in the refrigerated and frozen section of the grocery store. Also, I found these praline pecans over in the snack aisle. Finally, you can use microwaveable bacon as well.
- Goat cheese or queso fresco can be substituted for the feta cheese.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- spring mix greens
- fresh strawberries
- red onion, thinly sliced
- dried berries (cranberries or cherries)
- Feta cheese crumbles
- praline pecans
- bacon
- grilled chicken breasts
- balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing

HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY FIELDS SALAD:
Place spring mix greens into a large bowl or large platter. Remove tops of strawberries and slice thinly. Thinly slice red onions. Pro Tip: When using raw onions, soak the sliced onions in ice water for a few minutes before serving. This will help with the onion tasting too pungent and overpowering the rest of the dish.

Add sliced onions to salad and sprinkle with dried berries, Feta cheese crumbles, praline pecans, sliced strawberries, bacon and sliced chicken. Then drizzle balsamic salad dressing on top (as little or as much as you like.) And dig in!

Seriously – this will be your new favorite salad!

HOMEMADE BALSAMIC DRESSING RECIPE:
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup sugar (optional)
3 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Combine all dressing ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk well to combine ingredients thoroughly. This will take a few minutes for the oil and sugar to blend. Be patient, it will blend.

This was really, really good. Made it for my church group and it was gobbled up quickly! So pretty too!
This combination sounds wonderful…I think I will make it this week for lunch!
I just love making salads with any veggies we have on hand. Sometimes it is just simply lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and dressing. Other times we go all out with the toppings, grilled meat and so on. I love this recipe and can't wait to try it!
This looks so good. I love strawberry salads. Also pear salads. I am not a big fan of feta cheese, but will use something else. Love the idea of the dressing. Thanks for posting this. Can't wait to try it.
Your salad looks so delicious. I like to make mine with spinach, mixed greens, olives, feta & cucumber.
I love your onion tip!!
