This recipe for Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate is the perfect fall recipe. A creamy, rich chocolate drink with a touch of salted caramel!
SALTED CARAMEL HOT CHOCOLATE
We are huge hot chocolate fans. I have a SLOW COOKER HOT CHOCOLATE recipe that we love to make for family and friends. But I recently made a batch of HOMEMADE SALTED CARAMEL and thought it would be amazing in some hot chocolate. Spoiler Alert. it was absolutely AMAZING! This recipe is for the stovetop but I have also included a slow cooker option as well.
TIPS FOR MAKING STOVETOP HOT CHOCOLATE:
- If you don't have heavy cream, just use all milk. Heavy cream really adds to the creaminess of this drink.
- You can use regular caramel sauce instead of salted caramel.
- This recipes uses half of a (14 oz) can of sweetned condensed milk. If you want it sweeter, just use the whole can.
- You can make this a "white" hot chocolate by using white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
- This recipe will work the best if you make it exactly as written. Milk substitutes like almond or soy milk haven't been tested with this recipe so I can't say how that will turn out.
- I've also included directions below on how to make it in a slow cooker including adjusted ingredient amounts.

I make a similar recipe to this in a Breville milk frother/hot chocolate maker I have. It holds about 16 ounces. I put in a mix of cream and milk and it whips it up and heats it. I add chocolate pieces, salted caramel, occasionally a shot or two of buttershots or Bailey's mint chocolate and mix it up. It makes it in less than 5 minutes and melts the chocolate perfectly
