Copycat Chick-fil-A Superfood Salad
Superfood salad is my latest obsession from Chick-fil-A. My Mom was in town and she was wanting some Chick-fil-A so I went up to grab us some and noticed it on the menu. Well, I had to give it a try, right? Do y’all remember when Chick-fil-A used to have carrot salad? They took it off the menu and it broke my heart. I guess the idea was to put up some healthier options. So this is the newest thing. Kale has been in the news a lot lately for all of its health benefits and it is the star of this salad.
Making my own version
Chick-fil-A’s version has kale, baby broccoli, dried cherries and assorted nuts all tossed in a sweet and sour maple dressing. When Mom and I tried it, we were really impressed. So immediately I started thinking how I could make this. Surely it couldn’t be that hard? And ya know what? It really wasn’t. And y’all know me, I still gotta keep it easy so I am using a bottled dressing. This salad came together in minutes! Feel free to change it up to suit your tastes. I think you could add sunflower seeds or almonds or even carrots in this and it will only get better!
6 cups kale, chopped into bite size pieces
3 cups broccoli (or baby broccoli), chopped into bite size pieces
1 cup dried cranberries (or cherries)
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (16 oz.) bottle sweet & sour dressing
Sweet and Sour? Say what?
If you have never heard of Sweet & Sour dressing, let me assure you it does exist. I live in a pretty small area so if I can find it, I know that most folks around the country can find it too. Here are two different types. One is the Kroger store brand and the other is made by Marzetti. You can find these dressings where all the other salad dressings are located.
First things first – give your veggies a good rinse.
Then begin chopping up the kale and broccoli. If you’ve never worked with kale or any other type of greens before, then here’s a picture to show you what to do. All you have to do is cut around the stem.
Discard the stem and finish chopping it up into bite-size pieces.
Chop up the broccoli into bite-size pieces. I remove the bulky part of the broccoli stem but you can chop that up too and add it in – up to you.
Add it all into the bowl.
Then toss in the dried cranberries (or cherries) and chopped walnuts.
Pour dressing on top.
Then toss it all together and coat all the veggies as best as possible.
Cover with plastic wrap and place into the fridge for at least 2 hours.

- 6 cups kale chopped into bite size pieces
- 3 cups broccoli chopped into bite size pieces, or baby broccoli
- 1 cup dried cranberries or cherries
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 16 oz bottle sweet & sour dressing
- Rinse kale and broccoli and chop into bite size pieces (discarding the stems.)
- Add it all into a large bowl.
- Then toss in the dried cranberries (or cherries) and chopped walnuts.
- Pour dressing on top.
- Toss it all together and coat all the veggies as best as possible.
- Cover with plastic wrap and place into the fridge for at least 2 hours.
- Then serve
