Sometimes you have no idea how popular a recipe will be.
The one recipe that you think everyone will love barely gets any attention and the one that
you think may not be appealing to the masses ends up being a hit.
You never can tell sometimes.
The one recipe that you think everyone will love barely gets any attention and the one that
you think may not be appealing to the masses ends up being a hit.
You never can tell sometimes.
Such is the case with this next recipe.
I thought twice about sharing this recipe before I posted it over at TastyKitchen. It's one of those recipes that is so easy, you think people may not look twice at it because the ingredients are so simple. But then I began to realize there was a whole group of folks that loved their Crock Pot as much as I do. Hey, we can't always make a meal that takes 3 hours to prepare every night of the week, right? This is where the slow cooker comes in. It is the best friend to busy parents everywhere. You can get a delicious, hot meal on the table with minimal effort. So today I bring you (drum roll please), Pork Chops.
Y'all gotta try this recipe - please! I promise it will not disappoint. Throw some steamed veggies on your plate (I like those microwaveable steamer bag kind, helps keep the clean up down to a minimum) and some mashed taters and you got a meal, baby!

Ingredients:
4 Bone-in Pork Chops (you can use boneless)
1 envelope Onion Soup Mix (1 Oz. Packet)
1½ cups Chicken Broth
1 can (10.5 Oz) Cream Of Chicken Soup (low Sodium)
1 envelope Dry Pork Gravy Mix (1 Oz. Packet)
Place pork chops in slow cooker. In a separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients and pour over chops. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Serve with mashed potatoes to take advantage of all the yummy gravy.
Cook’s Note: I prefer a thick cut bone-in pork chop, however, if all you can find is boneless, then go with that. I probably wouldn't go with a real thin cut though. You may want to also use a low sodium chicken broth if you are sensitive to salt. You can always add salt in later if you feel it necessary. Also, try other cream soups, like cream of mushroom with this dish.
Enjoy!

This recipe is a TOTAL keeper....SCRUMPTIOUS!
ReplyDeleteFound you morning off Siggy Spice. I am your newest follower and will be back. Hope that you stop over to visit me some time.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate this recipe. When you have wee ones, whose needs prevail over yours, it's all about time management. Moreover, a high maintenance meal especially on weekdays can be a hindrance and not a help. My slow cooker will tell me soon how tender those pork chops are!
ReplyDeleteI really hope y'all enjoy it. We make this recipe pretty often. It is budget friendly and time friendly. Nothing fancy but I really enjoy slow cooker meals. Some folks like a thicker gravy so you could certainly take out the pork chops (wrap them in foil) and pour the gravy into a pot on medium heat. Whisk in a little Wondra flour and continually whisk until it comes to a low boil and begins to thicken. Thanks so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI will be trying this tomorrow night. I looks totally yummy! !
DeleteLove this recipe! You are so right about never knowing which ones will be popular. Desserts - which are not my forte - seem to be the most popular.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog, I'm following yours as well! I always love seeing your recipes on TK! :)
ReplyDeleteI so agree with your first paragraph, I really do. I so love your pork chops, too. I like the bone-in chops as well because the meat next to the bone is sweet and the bone makes the sauce tastier.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow my fiddlin'/Facebookin' friend! Great recipes and great explanations! I used to do LOTS of cooking blog posts and I need to revive that. I just applied to be a contributor to "GeekMom.com" where posts like my Moon Sand Mayhem and Pixo-Monium posts would fit well. Enjoy blogging, it's fun and what's MORE fun is when you go back after several years and it's like a trip down memory lane. I started my blog around New Year's 2008.
ReplyDeletePS: can I add you to my blog as one I follow? It's on the right-hand column.
Patricia - of course you can! You know I love reading your posts! Your stories would definitely fit in at GeekMom.com and your down-to-earth approach is what I love the most about your writing. And of course, you are a darn good cook!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that my slow cooker and kitchen aid mixer are my two most prized kitchen appliances. I use both reguarly. This recipe sounds nice and easy! Bookmarked!
ReplyDeleteAnnie - I completely agree!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so much easier than the other way of frying pork chops. Plus, I bet they come out much juicier this way.
ReplyDeleteUltimate favorite..it is mouth-watering photo!!!
ReplyDeleteI was just about to email you and I see that you got the badge. Thank you so much for the follow and display of the badge for Full Plate Thursday.Hope to see you soon, and have a great week end!

I made these and the gravy turned out SUPER salty. What did I do wrong? Was I supposed to use low sodium ingredients?
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, I do put in the list of ingredients to use low sodium cream of chicken and I also have in the notes at the bottom that you may want to use low sodium chicken broth as well. My husband prefers the full sodium options but I prefer low sodium options. I realize everyone's sensitivity to salt is different.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry this one didn't turn out good for you!
Its so nice of you to offer this in a printer friendly format...but I was wondering...can you start adding a picture in with the recipe. I'm a visual person and prefer to have a picture of every recipe in my recipe binder. Thanks much for sharing all your WONDERFUL recipes!
ReplyDeleteWas looking in the freezer wondering what to have for dinner...saw a package of pork chops and immediately thought of your recipe. They are in the slow cooker now.
ReplyDeleteI can't begin to tell you how many of your recipes we have tried and continue to make. Thanks!
Linda - thank you so very much for that! You made my day! I'm just so happy to hear you're getting as much enjoyment from these recipes as I do from sharing them!
ReplyDeleteI usually stay away from pork chops because I never know how to cook them, so I was a little scared of this recipe. It just so happened that I had 4 beautifully thick-cut pork chops in my freezer. I decided what have I got to lose? This recipe was awesome! The pork chops were tender and the gravy was so yummy. My only regret was that we ran out of dinner rolls :(
ReplyDeleteI used cream of mushroom soup and ran my onion soup mix through the food processor (as my 6 yr old wouldn't eat if she detected onion pieces).
Definite keeper! Tonight for dinner I'm trying your mac n cheese recipe.
I am so, so happy to hear you like this one! The pork these days is so lean that I know exactly what you mean when you say you get scared of cooking them. It can get dry very easily! (And I also know what you mean about those picky 6 years olds...lol) Good thinking on blending the onion soup mix! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how it turned out for you! Hope you like that Mac N Cheese recipe too! :)
ReplyDeleteMade this one last night! It was delicious! Even my picky step daughter ate it! I'll be making this again and this is my new favorite blog! Thanks for all the new recipes. It gets old making the same thing for dinner week after week!
ReplyDeleteThis recipe is tasty and easy. I made it with reduced sodium everything and it was still salty enough for a salt lover like me. Although reduced sodium products have less salt, they are Definately not salt free. Also, I trimmed most of the fat from the thick cut, bone in pork chops. I did not brown them first but did season them generously with garlic powder, salt free lemon zest and tons of cracked black pepper. I followed the instructions to a "T". The only difference is I put the whole pot in the fridge until the next day. I pulled about 3/4inch of pure fat off the top. Then I pulled out the chops, removed the bones and cut them into chunky pieces and returned to the pot. I then added one more can of low salt cream soup, a Tbs of worchestershire sauce and put it on high until hot. It was rich and creamy. I served it over large shells as that is what I had. I highly recommend chilling overnight first to remove all the fat and none of the flavor. One more can of soup thickens the gravy nicely.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to make it!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love these pork chops!!
ReplyDeletemade this for supper tonight. DELICIOUS! I wasn't sure because when I peeked (I can't help it!) at 4pm, the chops were not tender and looked gross. But by 6pm they were absolutely amazing! I boiled up the gravy and made it a little thicker--it was delicious. I'm thankful there are leftovers for lunch later this week. THIS IS A KEEPER! Thank you so much! :)
ReplyDeletetrying this one tomorrow night! I just recently found your blog and I have totally fallen in LOVE! I am a working mother of 2 boys, 7 & 10 and a 12 yr old daughter. All three play sports and I am not a great planner. I wanted to take a minute just to say THANK YOU! I have been on a Country Cook Challenge this week. I used ziplist to get 5 nights worth of ingredients to make the recipes I chose from your blog. The kids are loving it because it's something brand new each night. I go around about halfway through the meal and ask for either a thumbs up or thumbs down. You should be proud to know I have only received THUMBS UP from EVERYONE in the family! I really wanted you to know how much you have helped me AND brought some excitement back to the dinner table. Thanks again for keeping us out of the drive thru! KTT
ReplyDeleteKerri - that just warms my heart so much to hear!! I completely understand the challenges of being a working Momma and when you have older kids who are involved in extracurricular activities in can be so hard to even schedule supper! I am so happy you have found so workable recipes here & that your family loves them! Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to let me know! (hugs)
ReplyDeleteTrying this tonight. It looks like a comfort-food meal I can really go for! Will make the mashed potatoes, as we are really gravy lovers, but will also probably make your mac and cheese, too, as one of my granddaughters doesn't like mashed potatoes! (I think she is an alien from another planet. Whoever heard of such a thing?)Glazed carrots, rolls (to sop up more of the gravy!) Still thinking about dessert. Love your blog and your recipes!
