FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can I use boneless pork chops?

I like the bone-in pork chops for this recipe. I find that it really gives this dish a lot of flavor but if you prefer boneless you can certainly do that. But I definitely do not recommend a thin cut pork chop. Just be careful when taking them out when they are finished cooking. The meat will be very tender so I like to scoop them out with a spatula.

What can I serve with pork chops?

My absolute favorite side dish with this is mashed potatoes. Rice or egg noodles are also good. I also like to serve it with some steamed vegetables. (like broccoli or carrots) and maybe some Butter Swim Biscuits!

Can I cook this high?

I don’t recommend cooking on high. The meat will not come out as tender. Cooking it low and slow will ensure fall-apart tender pork chops.

Can I use a different cream soup?

You can pretty much us any cream soup your family enjoys. Cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of onion, cream of mushroom and chicken will all work here.

Should I salt and pepper the pork chops?

You could definitely season with pepper but I don’t recommend salt as there is enough salt in the other ingredients.

Can I use fat-free or low sodium options?

Where applicable, you could certainly substitute with those options. I prefer low sodium options here because we’re also using packets of pork gravy and onion soup mix which also have sodium in them.

Do I need to thicken the gravy?

It’s totally optional but I really think the gravy works better when thickened.

Can I use a round crock pot instead of oval?

I find this recipe works better in an oval slow cooker instead of a round one. The chops cook more evenly.

How do I store leftovers?

Store leftovers in an airtight container and put into the refrigerator. Eat within two days. I don’t recommend freezing leftovers.

  • This is one of those fix-it and forget it type crock pot recipes. It helps to have a digital crock pot these days. You can cook it for a certain amount of time so and then it will automatically go to a keep-warm setting.

  1. Fast & Easy to make. Chops came out really tasty and tender. Don’t bother putting a knife on the table. I added some paprika and mushrooms as well. If you like shrooms, do it!

This is the best pork chop recipe ever.. My question is, can this receipt also be cooked on the stove?

So I know you don’t recommend thin cut pork chops but that’s all I have at home so could I do it and just use less time?

I have made this 3 times now and it has turned out perfectly every time! I do suggest taking the time to cook it on low for 6-7 hours rather than cooking on high for a few hours. It is much more tender when cooked low and slow. I am only a beginner at cooking and this recipe is easy enough for me to follow. My family is so impressed. I very much recommend!

    1. Thank you so, so much Shannen! It means a lot that you took the time to come back and leave a review. And yes, I completely agree on the low and slow with any meat. I know we want to rush it or there are times we forgot to get it started but it truly makes a world of difference!

This is my new favorite pork chop dinner. Gravey thickened nicely. Next time I will use the steamed veggies as my side dish.

My family loves this recipe although instead of pork gravy mix I normally substitute brown gravy, that way the flavor isn’t overwhelmingly porky and it’s just right ☺️ 10/10

    I have had several recipes call for searing seasoned chops first then putting the cockpot. Would the work in your recipe. It truly sounds amazingly delicious ;o}

I seared mine before putting in the slow cooker. Tender and delish. Any suggestions to use in replace of Lipton Onion soup? Just seemed like such a strong flavor. Will be a keeper!

My husband always tell me he doesn’t really like pork chops but eats them.
Now, he LOVES smothered pork chops. This meal was amazing!

I think this recipe reignited my 26 year marriage! I’m not joking. Hubby was so HAPPY after eating this he couldn’t stop staring lovingly at me all night . Minor adjustments only because I didn’t have everything on hand – replaced pork dry gravy mix for mushroom dry gravy mix (didn’t have pork) and I used boneless center cut chops instead. Cooked on low for 4.5 hours, added corn starch slurry and cooked a total of 5 hours for 6 boneless center 1 1/4th thick cut chops. Fork tender, delicious with perfectly thick gravy on top of rice. Thank you!

I love this recipe so much and I made enough one day that I sent it next-door to my dad. My dad loved it so much that he went and bought my stepmother a crockpot so she could make it for him whenever he wanted it. This is a very good recipe and it is a hit in my house and my dad’s house.

  15. I love this recipe! It’s AWESOME the only thing I do differently is I brown my porkchops first before adding them to the crockpot and it just adds another layer of flavor! YUM!!!!

Delicious and very easy to make!! I have never been able to make gravy, but using this recipe, the gravy makes itself. We eat this about three times a month.
