Strawberry Sweet Tea
This Strawberry Sweet Tea recipe is made with freshly brewed tea, fresh strawberries and a touch of sweetness. The perfect summertime drink!
DELIGHTFULLY REFRESHING SUMMERTIME TEA
Fruit flavored teas are fairly popular in many regions of the south. Lots of times you’ll see fruit teas at weddings or baby showers. They are super simple to make but add just a touch of fancy to your normal sweet iced tea. This strawberry sweet tea recipe just goes so well for those hot summer days!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
This recipe makes 6 cups of tea. Double or triple the recipe as necessary.
Absolutely! Try adding a 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice to this for that extra little zing
Ice cubes can water down the drink as it cools. Instead, try using frozen strawberries. This will keep the drink cool, look really pretty and it won’t water down the drink! Before pouring the drinks, you can always throw a few ice cubes into the glasses if necessary.
Luzianne tea is one of my favorites but Lipton tea definitely comes in a close second.
Steep tea for as little or as long as you like. I like a strong tea flavor so I will let it steep for at least 5 or more minutes. Some folks like a lighter tea taste so you will steep it for less time.
Of course. Just substitute the sugar with the recommended amounts that are listed on the packaging of your sugar substitute.
Well of course you can! Always start with a little and add more as necessary. Give it all a taste and add more until it reaches your desired amount of sweetness.
It’s optional, of course. If you really want a kick-in-the-pants strawberry flavor then I would definitely add strawberry extract. Sometimes strawberries (especially if they aren’t in peak season) are not that strawberry tasting. This really helps to bring out that strawberry flavor.
Your blender should puree up any seeds that are in the strawberries but if you still see some in there, you can certainly strain the puree with a fine mesh strainer.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- tea bags
- strawberries
- sugar
- strawberry extract
- frozen strawberries (or ice)
HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY SWEET TEA:
Bring water to a simmer. You don’t need it to come to a full boil. Just as you start to see bubbles form at the bottom of the pan, turn off the heat. Then add the tea bags to the pot and let it steep (again, make sure the heat is off.)
While the tea is steeping, time to work on the strawberries! Set aside 5 strawberries (to use as a garnish for your drinks.) Take the rest of the strawberries and remove the stems (discard those) and slice the strawberries in half. Pop the strawberries into a blender or food processor.
Blend until pureed.
Once the tea has finished steeping, pour it into a pitcher.
Then pour sugar into the brewed tea.
Give it all a stir to dissolve. At this point I want you to taste it. Is it sweet enough for you? If not, continue adding a little more sugar until you reach the desired sweetness.
Next, stir in strawberry puree.
Pour in strawberry extract. After you add this in – give your strawberry tea one last taste to make sure it is sweet enough and you have enough strawberry flavor. This is the time to add more if necessary.
Finally, add ice cubes or frozen strawberries to the tea. Then pour into glasses
Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry.
