FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I use boneless pork chops?

I like the bone-in pork chops for this recipe. I find that it really gives this dish a lot of flavor but if you prefer boneless you can certainly do that. But I definitely do not recommend a thin cut pork chop. Just be careful when taking them out when they are finished cooking. The meat will be very tender so I like to scoop them out with a spatula.

What can I serve with pork chops?

My absolute favorite side dish with this is mashed potatoes. Rice or egg noodles are also good. I also like to serve it with some steamed vegetables. (like broccoli or carrots) and maybe some Butter Swim Biscuits!

Can I cook this high?

I don’t recommend cooking on high. The meat will not come out as tender. Cooking it low and slow will ensure fall-apart tender pork chops.

Can I use a different cream soup?

You can pretty much us any cream soup your family enjoys. Cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of onion, cream of mushroom and chicken will all work here.

Should I salt and pepper the pork chops?

You could definitely season with pepper but I don’t recommend salt as there is enough salt in the other ingredients.

Can I use fat-free or low sodium options?

Where applicable, you could certainly substitute with those options. I prefer low sodium options here because we’re also using packets of pork gravy and onion soup mix which also have sodium in them.

Do I need to thicken the gravy?

It’s totally optional but I really think the gravy works better when thickened.

Can I use a round crock pot instead of oval?

I find this recipe works better in an oval slow cooker instead of a round one. The chops cook more evenly.

How do I store leftovers?

Store leftovers in an airtight container and put into the refrigerator. Eat within two days. I don’t recommend freezing leftovers.

  1. If I don’t have cornstarch, does anyone know how to substitute with all purpose flour? Like amount of ingredients needed and directions to thicken the gravy sauce?

  2. 5 stars
Absolutely love this recipe, it has become a family favorite. Instead of having to tighten the gravy I use a gravy pack that is 2.4 ounces instead of only 1 ounce. That does all the work for me. I just mix it together then throw in the chops and wait! So easy and tasty. You should try that way sometimes, it’s a bit simpler. Thanks for the recipe!

I’ve made this recipe a couple of times, and although delicious, I have improvised in order to cut down on the sodium.

  4. 5 stars
This has been a BIG hit with my family and has become one of the most requested dishes in my house!! Thank you for such a tasty and easy recipe!!

Do you have a way to make the gravy brownier? I prefer brown kind of gravy.
Does the sauce have to be that consistency, thick?

Do you recommend using stock pot to have a meatier taste for the sauce?

  6. If I have the thin cut boneless (as I didn’t read the entire article just the ingredients before buying) would I just shorten the cooked time to help? Because the article doesn’t recommend thin? thanks!

Tried this recipe and WOW! The family loved it! I did have to make a couple of modifications though, as I have my SO and my daughter’s SO to feed and sometimes they have big appetites. I increased the number of pork chops to 8 boneless ones and doubled everything else. Still turned out amazing! My next experiment will be with a casserole slow cooker, as opposed to my oval one. Wish me luck!

  8. I’m going to try this today but I’m wondering if I could add some potatoes to the crockpot? Maybe green beans as well? Also, I don’t have pork gravy only onion gravy. Think that would work ok?

I have been searching for a good pork chop meal, and I found it!! I didn’t have cream of chicken soup so, I substituted it with cream of mushroom soup, and i placed it on a bed off egg noodles. and my husband gave it 5 stars! This recipe is a keeper, tastes great, and wasn’t expensive to make!

This recipe was AMAZING! I don’t eat much pork but I ate 2 of these. They were so tender and tasty. I was worried about the amount of sodium, but the chops were seasoned just right. I’ll be adding this (and some of your other recipes) to my meal planning.

I’m so glad I came across this recipe! I was searching for a way to prepare boneless pork chops, which are not my preference because of their tendency to be dry. It turned out great and the whole family enjoyed them. I didn’t have a packet of pork gravy on hand, so I omitted that ingredient, and it was still very tasty without it! I will definitely make this again, and I will now follow you regularly. Thanks.

I love this recipe! ! But today I want to make it for my husbands family, and I’ve got to make 5. One is gonna end up sitting on top of another one..is that okay??

I made these today omg they’re finger licking good so moist and tender & tasty the crock pot gives them more flavor and the gravy turnt out thick yes I’ll be making these again.

  17. 5 stars
Absolutely love this recipe! Meat is tender and the flavor goes all the way through despite using boneless pork chops. Is there anyway to make it in a shorter time? Would like to make these during the week sometimes, but due to work, I cant. The apartment i live in is old, so i dont feel comfortable leaving a crock-pot on while no one is home. If anyone has any ideas to make this in a shorter time, please let me know! I’m willing to buy a new crock-pot if there’s a specific one you recommend to make this in a shorter time frame.

  18. Found this recipe on Pinterest!!
It’s 1130am and it’s in the crock pot now! 10 minutes in and I can smell it throughout my house. Cant wait to try the finished product! Serving with texmati white, brown, wild and red rice blend and french cut green beans as the 2 sides.
Will post an update after we eat it tonight
    Thanks!!

We just ate and my 1.5 year old couldn’t stop eating off my plate! Husband and I loved it and i will make again . Easy “set timer and go” kinda meal during the day that’s ready for dinner. Went really well with the wild rice blend I made as a side instead of mash potatoes. Also made french style green beans to go with.
Glad I found this! Im sharing this recipe with my sister!
I’ll be looking and making more from your page soon!
      Thanks for dinner!

  19. Cook 4-6 hours. How long did you cook them? I like simple straight forward times to cook lol. Want to try it out this week. Thank you.

    1. Kellie, I can’t give that because it depends on your brand of slow cooker. Older ones run cooler and take longer. Newer ones run hotter and are done faster. It also depends if you have a metal insert or porcelain insert. Sorry!

    2. 5 stars
Today I used a new oval shaped porcelain crock pot and went the whole 6 hours on low. There’s no messing these up. You will be safe at 6 hours if you have a similar kinda pot as me. They won’t burn or dry out with all the delish gravy/liquids!! I used 4 boneless thinner sized chops and it turned out perfect and sooo tender!! Hope this helps.

I had forgotten to plug my slow cooker ???? but ended up turning it on low and fell asleep (it was late evening) needless to say it cooked about 12 hours on low. Still fantastic! Thickened the gravy put in the fridge and took out warmed in the oven served over rice (have used mashed potatoes) and both are awesome, green peas and still awesome!
