TIPS FOR MAKING THIS FUN APPETIZER/SNACK:

  • Use any flavor meatball your family will enjoy. Original, turkey, Italian or even the plant-based meatballs will work.
  • Crescent roll dough or pizza dough can be substituted for the breadstick dough. You just need enough to cut it into 12 slices.
  • The meatballs come frozen so you’ll need to defrost them slightly. They just need to be thawed enough where you can poke the skewer through them. If you’re in a hurry, pop them in a microwave for a few seconds. Don’t cook them! Just get them soft enough to poke the skewer through.
  • For one tube of breadsticks, you’ll need 36 meatballs. Note: Not all frozen meatballs are the same size so you’ll need to use your best judgement here on how many meatballs will fit on your skewers (especially if they are pretty large.)
  • I have not tried making this with fresh (raw) meatballs so I cannot tell you how that would go.

This looks totes amaze, but I can’t seem to figure out exactly what a ‘serving’ constitutes. Is that per skewer? I’m going to try and turn this into a fun dinner for my family of five so I don’t want to come up short on meatballs! 😮
