Easy Apple Dumplings (+Video)
These Easy Apple Dumplings are made with crescent rolls, cinnamon, butter, sugar and lemon lime soda. The flavor is amazing!
AN EASY APPLE DESSERT
In my opinion, any time of year is a good time for apple recipes. Not just fall! There are just so many great ways to use apples and my brain just starts buzzing with all the possibilities. One of the first recipes that always comes to mind are these dumplings.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Absolutely! Peaches work perfect in this dessert. Check out my recipe for FRESH PEACH DUMPLINGS!
Yep! One good sized green apple is all you need! It will give you 4 servings of two dumplings per serving. You could double the recipe in a larger baking dish to get 8 servings.
No. I really don’t think you taste that traditional crescent roll flavor. The crescent rolls take on a whole new flavor when combined with the cinnamon, sugar, butter and lemon lime soda.
They are certainly sweet but I think it’s always hard to tell other people how sweet or salty something is. Things I think aren’t sweet at all may be super sweet to others so I take those descriptions with a grain of salt. I think these are just the right amount of sweetness. However, others who are sensitive to sweetness may find them too sweet. I’ve always been told that the older we get, the less sweet we like our foods. You can always test the recipe out and then adjust to your particular tastes.
I always get this question on dessert recipes. I do not bake or cook with sugar substitutes. At least not regularly. So I really can never say for certain. However, if you are accustomed to baking with sugar substitutes then honestly you would know better than me if this would work and how to do it.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- green apple
- crescent rolls
- butter
- sugar
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon
- flour
- lemon lime soda
HOW TO MAKE EASY APPLE DUMPLINGS:
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray an 8-inch square pan with nonstick spray.
Peel and core apple. Cut apple into 8 slices.
Unroll tube of crescent rolls and separate into 8 pieces. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on the inside of the crescent roll.
Add one apple slice. Roll it up in a nice little bundle.
Continue with next 7 rolls the same way. Place all 8 dumplings into baking dish.
Mix together melted butter with sugar, flour and vanilla extract.
Pour butter mixture on top of crescent rolls.
Now take soda and pour it around the edges of the crescent rolls. Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon if you prefer.
Bake in preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes. The dumplings create the most amazing sauce on the bottom. So scoop that up when serving!
You can eat it all by itself or serve warm with ice cream.

I made them yesterday, super easy super delicious. Used RAW SUGAR and it was awshum!
I have a pot luck on Saturday and I am supposed to bring a dessert. I think I just figured out what I'm making.
Now I need two appetizers for the pot lucks on Saturday night and Sunday night…
Hi Star! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how they turned out for you. I'm glad your hubby gave them a chance..lol!
Made this tonight and it was delicious!!! Loved it!! My husband was a little skeptical but after he had his first bite – he said it was very good! Thanks for the recipe!!!
These tast just fine at room temperature. In fact, my husband always asks me to make extra so he can take some for lunch the next day. So he's usually eating them cold since they stay in his cooler. To me, they are best warm but he seems to enjoy the taste either way! 🙂
These look amazing! One question….I know they're probably best warm, right out of the oven, but how about when they come to room temperature? I was thinking of making these for a spaghetti dinner at my daughter's school.
These look wonderful, and I love the fact that they are so easy! I'm saving these to try some day.
Just tried these and love them! I agree about the kind of cinnamon and just so you know, our local Costco carries a huge bottle of it so incredibly cheap compared to what you can buy in the grocery store and it lasts forever.
Tucson Mom – so happy you liked them! Good to know about it being carried at Costco. We don't have on here but we do have Sam's Club so I'll have to check there next time I go. Thank you so much for taking the time to come back & let me know how they turned out for ya. I really appreciate it!
Just had to come back and say, these are delicious! The kids request them at least once a week and since we eat twice off one recipe, we enjoy your apple dumplings for dessert with vanilla ice cream twice a week! YUM!
Don't know how I missed this before but saw it over at Everyday Mom's Meals, Love it, too easy, I'll be making some this week!
I saw something similar to this in a Taste of Home the other day. I tore it out and it's now residing in my "must cook" file. Thanks for sharing at Church Supper and the tip about the cinnamon!
Everyday Mom's Meals
Ever since the kids saw The Apple Dumpling Gang, they've been wanting to try apple dumplings. These look so easy and delicious, I just might have to surprise them!
I made these and they were a hit!! I doubled the apples/crescents but I did not double the butter, sugar, vanilla & soda….and they turned out excellent. Thank you so much for the recipe!!
Made these Dumplins for my husband on a Saturday and had to make more on Sunday, he loved them! Thanks for one of the easiest recipes ever!
Mary – thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how these turned out for you! So happy you loved them (and your hubby too!).
I make these all the time and they are a big hit always!! A little variation…I use peaches sometimes too and they are just as awesome!!!
These sound absolutely delicious! Cinnamon, apples, pastry – what is not to love!
