I am going to ask that you don't judge this recipe entirely on my picture.
Blame the photographer not the food.
I could have created a far more appetizing shot.
But my husband was ravenous and I had to get to work so I took a quick picture, we ate,
and I made a hasty exit.
And that brings me to why I am posting this recipe.

The slow cooker is the busy person's best friend.
You can get a good meal on the table for yourself and your family.
Don't feel guilty because you didn't spend 2 hours chopping ingredients or slowly basting a turkey for 5 hours (save that for your days off when you have time and can enjoy the process). Also, who needs all the dirty dishes cluttering their sinks on work days?
I have enough to worry about and I actually want to spend time with my family rather than cooking and cleaning for the few hours a day we all have together.

So dust off your Crock Pots if you haven't used them in a while and make a hearty meal
and feel good that you did a good days work and managed to put food on the table
for the people you love.

Cook’s note: You can use a whole beef roast instead of cubed stew meat.
If you don’t have cream of mushroom soup, you can substitute cream of chicken.

Also, if you are sensitive to salt, I would suggest using a low sodium cream soup as well as a low sodium beef broth

ReplyDeleteWhat a great meal! I am sure this is just so nice on a cold night
ReplyDeleteI love, love beef and gravy..and if you incorporate mushrooms even better. I love this recipe, and it totally looks awesome on the photo!
ReplyDeleteI have a turkey breast, potatoes, carrots, and onions cooking away in my slow cooker, as I type:)
ReplyDeleteslow cookers are great for hearty winter meals.
Your beef tips look very good. We do use low sodium, everything, broth, soy sauce, soup, etc.
Hey this sounds nice....
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the picture looks bad at all. Gives me a little hint of that goodness. Pot roast is so warming and brings back in most of us fun childhood memories.
ReplyDeleteI love slow cooker recipes - makes a busy life a litle bit easier. I will definitely try this!

This looks great!! I love a good roast:) And yes the slow cooker is a dear friend of mine!!
ReplyDeleteI really do need to get my slow cooker out!! This would be a family pleaser in my house. My husband laughs as I take pics of his food and says he's getting used to eating cold food. =)
ReplyDeleteYum! I love crock-pot meals! There is something so wonderful about throwing something together so fast and easily, and getting to relax or getting other work done! Looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteEasy and delicious! Thanks for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI've forgotten about this recipe! I used to make it a lot as a newlywed...mine included a slosh of sherry. I'm going to have to dust off my crockpot...it will make a happy hubby :)
ReplyDeleteYum! This looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome! I need to break out the slow cooker more often. My husband would love this dish.
ReplyDeleteMy husband would go nuts over this dish!
ReplyDeleteok, I am seriously going to have to try beef tips. They keep appearing in my life and looking so yummy! I have never eaten them before but that will soon change. This is how I make my roasts though and it's fabulous, always. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYummy! I make my pot roast very similar to this. I am going to try it this way next time! You are my slow cooker bff :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice recipe. I adore beef tips so this recipe has my name written all over it. This sounds delicious. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI only make lentil soups in my slow cooker. I really need to broaden my horizons and try some meat dishes like this beef one you shared. It truly does look like a hearty meal!
ReplyDeleteI see the recipe says it can cook for 6-8 hours... can it go longer? I tend to favor recipes that can go for 9-10 hours since I need to factor in travel time to/from work. Do you think the additional time would negatively affect the dish?
ReplyDeletePatsy - I really don't think it will be a problem. I will say that I haven't ever let it go that long but I just can't see how it would hurt. If your beef tips are fairly small to begin with, they will tend to shrink up quite a bit during the cooking process. You may just want to put in a tad more beef broth. Also, just give it a good stir when you get home, before serving. Hope this helps, let me know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite things to cook in my slow cooker. Actually I don't have all that many recipes that I make in my slow cooker so I am always on the lookout for good ones. Slow cookers sure do make life easier on those busy weeknights.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your recipe. I've been looking through some of your recent posts and am enjoying the recipes. Glad I found your blog today. I'm adding myself to your list of followers :)
Til Next Time,

Oh my goodness girl...I just love beef tips and gravy. Your recipe looks delicious. Thank you so much for sharing it with us here at Full Plate Thursday!
ReplyDeleteyeah its look delicious.
ReplyDeleteI just finished up dinner and I used this recipe. To describe it in one word...WOW. one of the best slow cooker beef roast recipes I have ever made!! I used sirloin tip roast meat.
ReplyDeleteI did make one little adjustment: before putting roast into slow cooker, sprinkle both sides with some salt, pepper and garlic powder and rub into meat with your hand.
I served with red skin mashed potatoes, peas and dinner rolls. Finished off with strawberry pound cake.
DELICIOUS
Hi Ruth! So happy this was a winner for ya! Thank you so much for coming back to let me know how it turned out. This is definitely a regular favorite in our house. Good idea about seasoning the meat too! :) ~Brandie
