Crock Pot Hot Fudge Sundae Cake
Crock Pot Hot Fudge Sundae Cake is a homemade chocolate cake that makes it’s own hot fudge sauce as it cooks! Simply delicious!
A CHOCOLATE SLOW COOKER DESSERT
I have such a fun recipe to share today! I previewed a photo of this Crock Pot Hot Fudge Sundae Cake on facebook a couple of days ago and I was so surprised by how many of y’all were excited for me to share this one. Have you ever made a cake in your slow cooker? Did you know you could make a cake in your slow cooker? Well, it turns out you can. And it can turn out really good too!

TIPS FOR MAKING THIS SLOW COOKER CAKE
- For this recipe, you really need a smaller (2-3 quart) slow cooker. If the slow cooker is too large or wide, the cake may cook very unevenly and you won’t get a proper fudge layer to form. I have not tested it with anything larger so cannot tell you how it would turn out. Bake it at your own risk.
- I have only tried this with whole and 2% cow’s milk. I have not tried it with almond or oat milk so I can’t say how those would turn out.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- all-purpose flour
- sugar
- cocoa powder
- baking powder
- salt
- milk
- oil
- vanilla extract
- chopped nuts (optional)
- brown sugar
- hot water

HOW TO MAKE CROCK POT HOT FUDGE SUNDAE CAKE
Spray a 2-3 quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. For baking, I like to use this kind that has flour in it.

In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.

I don’t own a flour sifter so I just took a long-tined fork and stirred it up real good.

Then stir in milk, oil and vanilla extract.

Give it all a good stir until combined, then fold in nuts (if using). Spread batter evenly into your slow cooker.

In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa powder.

Stir in hot water until smooth.

Pour this mixture evenly over batter in slow cooker. DO NOT STIR.

Cover and cook on high setting for 2-2 1/2 hours (it took about 2 1/2 hours for mine to bake).

To test if it is done, stick a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean (with no cake batter hanging on it), then it is done. Let cake stand, uncovered for 30-40 minutes before serving (this will thicken the sauce.)

On the top you will have your cake layer. Underneath that cake layer is your fudge sauce. So slice up the cake (it’s okay if it falls apart a little bit on you, this cake comes out very moist). Spoon it up on a plate or bowl. Then scoop up some of that hot fudge sauce that is on the bottom, and drizzle a bit of that on top of your cake along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

I love my slow cookers. I have every shape and size. I try to use them as much as I can and I am in love with the slow cooker liners! It makes clean-up a breeze! In the fall I have an annual party and we use at least 5 crock-pots at once!

I absolutely LOVE my crockpots. I have a larger one and a smaller one. I mostly use the larger one because more than half the time I am feeding many mouths. :-)) I now have three stepsons plus my two children. I would LOVE to add this cookbook to my collection. One cannot have too many cookbooks and slow cooker recipes are so awesome for busy schedules. ashley_benson21@hotmail.com

I use my crockpot at least once a week. It's great if I have places to go or alot of work to do around the house. I don't have to worry about cooking. It would be nice to have some new recipes.

I'm just now starting to use my slow cooker since I retired. I'd like to begin using it at least several times a week. I couldn't use it when I was working because the times were too short for my work-day. I am not comfortable leaving my e-mail for everyone to see. Please post my tag if I win.

I don't use my crock pot as much as I would like too, but I am looking for more good recipes so I can.
I have three crockpots and use them ALL the time. Occasionally for a family meal I will be using all three at one time! Can't wait to try this cake! Nmitchell@marykay.com
I love to use my crockpot. There's nothing like homemade vegetable soup or crockpot macaroni… I love that it saves time, is easy to clean, and I can just put something in and come home after church on Sunday and not have to spend an hour in the kitchen making lunch… I couldn't live without it!
I own super sized crock pots and use them to keep gumbo, jambalayas, chili, bisque, soups, etc warm when I host party's. I am not sure if I would trust them to cook my meals as good as I do the traditional way. I don't have much money to waste the ingredients if it didn't csome out in the crackpot.
I own two Crockpots about to be three. I love my Crockpot. I recently have been trying to use mine more. I started by planning a weekly menu. We are a busy family so I am using the Crockpot more or planning easy meals that can be prepared in about 30 minutes.
I am going to be purchasing a programmable Crockpot soon. Sometimes we don't get home until later in the evening and the food has been cooking for 10+ hours. On a few occasions it was over cooked. I started cooking overnight so it would be done in the morning before we leave the house.

I own 3 different size of slow cookers. The smaller one of the three, I use for heating up nacho cheese when we're having nachos for dinner. The medium sized one I use for when making chili beans, and philly cheese steak sandwiches for whenever my sister is in town from college. 🙂 The large one I use for roast for the entire family. I love using the slow cookers and smelling the food while it cooks and not having to worry about it. I don't use it as often as i would like, but I'm trying to make one crockpot meal a month (or more) this year. I can't wait to try this recipel…I never knew you could make a cake in a crockpot.

I have 3 crock pots, and I use at least one of them, every week. 🙂 Sometimes I do a main dish like roast in the biggest one, and then use the smaller ones for potatoes and maybe a corn casserole or something. 🙂 I would love this cookbook… for some reason my only crockpot cookbook is one from the 70's or 80's, and it's pretty outdated. 😉
OOPS! this is Linda again, forgot to give you my email address! lslsw@yahoo.com
I love my crock pots, and am always looking for new things to do with them. Especially with 4 adult children popping over at the last minute on weekends! To have a couple of slow cookers going with good meals is a treat for them and for me!

I love cooking in a crockpot….nothing better than coming home to a homecooked meal you didn't have to stand over a hot stove for !!! I'd love the cookbook…I need new recipes to try 🙂
I have two crockpots – a little one and a big one! I don't use them nearly enough but have been inspired to use it more – so much so that I have left it out on the counter to remind me it is there and waiting. Love Gooseberry Patch books too. I have a collection of some of them (not the slow cooker one though) and still use them even though the dog tried to eat them! Going to try this cake and the pasta fagoli this weekend. Let me know if I win – donnaperras@yahoo.com Thanks.
