Crunchy, Yummy, Handheld Appetizers
I’ve got an easy light meal or snack for you with these Ritz Cracker Sandwiches! These delicious little bites were inspired by the popular Glazed Ham and Cheese Sliders. Just like those well-loved sliders, these Cracker Sandwiches were a huge hit with family and friends! They ate ALL of them and I wished I had doubled the recipe!

Made these and they were very good and impressive. Thanks for the recipe

Frequently Asked Questions:
These would be great as an appetizer, they are best served warm but are still amazing at room temperature.
Yes! You can assemble them ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake. Add the butter glaze mixture just before baking for best results. If you put it on too early, it can make the crackers soggy.
Cracker sandwiches pair well with a variety of easy sides depending on the occasion. For appetizers or parties, serve them with a veggie tray, fruit tray, pickles, chips, or a simple dip. For a light lunch or casual dinner, they go nicely with pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw, or a bowl of soup. They also work well alongside a fresh green salad for a simple balanced meal.
Keep in the fridge for up to 3 days, freeze for up to 3 months.
Reheat them in the oven, Air Fryer, or microwave until warmed through. The oven or Air Fryer helps keep the crackers slightly crisp.

Ingredients Needed: (See Recipe Card Below For The Full Recipe)
- Ritz crackers– You can use any other brand of crackers, but, Ritz crackers hold their shape well and we all thought it provided the best texture and flavor. Other buttery round crackers can work as a swap if you need to, it doesn’t need to be the name brand version.
- deli white cheddar – Smoked cheeses like gouda or cheddar are also great options. You can be flexible here
- deli ham– Try smoked ham, honey ham, turkey, or even roast beef.
- butter– you can use salted or unsalted butter depending on your preferences.
- light brown sugar – I have not made this with a sugar substitute. I am sure you could. I just haven’t personally tried it.
- Worcestershire sauce
- dijon mustard – this is going to work best with dijon mustard. The yellow mustard can be a bit too strong (at least that is what we all thought when I tested it but taste buds obviously can vary.)
- poppy seeds – these are optional but use them if you have them. They really help the glaze stand out to show these aren’t your ordinary cheese and crackers.

How To Make Ritz Cracker Sandwiches
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Layer 24 crackers on the sheet tray. Tear 4 slices of the cheddar into bite-sized pieces and distribute them evenly over each cracker.

Rip the ham up into bite-sized pieces and distribute them evenly over each cracker. Repeat with the remaining 4 slices of cheese (tearing them up in bite size pieces and placing on top of the ham layer.) Top each with another cracker.

In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar, Worcestershire, and Dijon.

Spoon the mixture evenly over each cracker. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top. Bake for 8-10 minutes until melty and golden brown on top.

Allow to cool for a couple of minutes and serve.
