A McDonald’s Inspired Sandwich
If you love a good McDonald’s File-O_Fish sandwich then chances are you’re going to love these Filet-O-Fish Sliders! The biggest difference is that they’re smaller than the ones you’d get at the golden arches. They still pair perfectly with your favorite French Fries!

Frequently Asked Questions
Sure can! This is more of a concept rather than a full blown from-scratch recipe. If you’re okay with smaller filets on the slider buns, that’s great, or you could look for slightly larger filets that you know will work.
A lot of folks don’t know but the container the Hawaiian Rolls come in is oven safe so we’re using that to toast the rolls (removed from the plastic first, of course), but if you want to put them on a baking dish, you can do that as well.
Just like you get from the restaurant, these are good with French Fries, but they’d also be great with some tater tots. You could also go super basic and grab a bag of potato chips for something super simple. Coleslaw and a nice green garden salad also pair nicely.
Yes, you can cook the filets in the oven, air fryer, pan sear, or even deep fry them. The back of the fish filet bag has directions on how to make the filets in the air fryer.
You can keep this in the fridge for up to 2 days. Keep in mind the bread may get soggy if you have a ton of tarter sauce and the lettuce may wilt overtime.

Ingredients Needed: (See Recipe Card Below For The Full Recipe)
- butter– you can use salted or unsalted butter, whatever you prefer and have available.
- Kings Hawaiian slider buns – The very slight sweetness of the buns is the perfect combo with the fish. You can use any small roll that you love. Make sure you don’t overcook the buns. You can use brioche, the Hawaiian rolls, or any soft bun. That is key, so the bun is soft.
- Gorton’s fish sandwich filets – See my ingredient image below to see the exact ones I used. These are the perfect squares for each slider. Any smaller fish filet will work if you can’t find this particular kind. If the fish piece is too large, you can always cut in half after baking. I know different brands are more popular in other areas. Other popular brands you may know are Mrs. Pauls and Van De Kamps. Truly, any brand works.
- American cheese slices – The traditional American cheese is the perfect cheese for the sliders, but any cheese will work with the sliders.
- shredded lettuce – The crispy lettuce complements the sandwich so well.
- tartar sauce – The tangy and creamy sauce is what every fish sandwich needs. If you really want to take these sliders over the top, try using my Homemade Tartar Sauce.

How To Make Filet-O-Fish Sliders
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Bake the fish filets for 15 minutes on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. While the filets are cooking, coat the bottom of the 8 rolls with the melted butter. I am using the container the rolls came in (with King’s Hawaiians rolls and buns, the container is oven safe. If using another brand, you may need to put the rolls on an oven safe baking sheet – refer to the packaging).

Flip the filets over and cook for an additional 5 minutes. At the same time put the rolls into the oven as well. Toast the rolls until light golden brown around the edges and then remove the fish and the rolls from the oven.

Top each roll with a half slice of cheese then a baked fish filet.

Then top with shredded lettuce, and spread some tartar sauce on the top half of the bun.

Place the bun on top and serve!
