FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What size plastic cups did you use?

I used the 9-ounce plastic cups (paid affiliate link) that you can grab from Amazon. If you use smaller ones, you can may need more cups as you won’t be using as much of the mixture in each cup.

Which cups are best for traveling?

If you’re making these to take to a potluck or party, I would make sure to use cups with lids (paid affiliate link)but hold off on adding the worms until you get to your destination. They only take a second to add, so don’t fret if you need to add them when serving.

Can I use homemade pudding instead of instant pudding?

Sure. Making homemade pudding instead of instant pudding is totally workable as long as you’re making the same volume of pudding. Just remember that this will increase total preparation time.

What gummy worms should I use?

These gummy worms are classic gummy worms (paid affiliate link) and can be found at just about any store. They’re in the candy aisle or wherever other gummy candy can be found.

Can I use sour gummy worms?

Sure. They tend to be a bit brighter in color but any sour gummy worms will definitely work. You can find them in just about every grocery store or convenience store in the candy aisle. You can also find the gummy worms (paid affiliate link) online at Amazon if needed.

Can I add more crushed cookies?

If you want more cookie crumbs, just crush up more Oreo Cookies and put some into the bottom of the cups before adding the pudding or layer it in the middle of the pudding.

How do I store these Dirt Cups?

Dirt Cups can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days. I wouldn’t recommend trying to freeze these.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)

  • chocolate instant pudding– make sure you grab the instant pudding mix, not the cook n serve version since that one doesn’t set up until it’s cooked over heat. Unfortunately the boxes are next to each other in the baking aisle and they can easily be confused.
  • cold milk
  • whipped topping– I used Cool Whip here, but any brand will work.
  • Oreo cookies
  • gummy worms– you’ll need at least 16 worms to stick in the cups.
  • plastic cups
