FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I substitute the flour tortilla?

You can use your favorite tortillas for his recipe. Low carb, gluten free, whole wheat – they all work with this recipe.

What size tortillas are best?

Taco size are what I use but you could make smaller ones by using the street taco sized tortillas or you could even make these into larger burritos.

What is the best ground beef to use?

We like to use a leaner ground beef that produces less grease, so we usually go with at least 85/15.

Can this recipe be doubled?

Absolutely, if you have a larger family or are planning on feeding more people then you absolutely can double this recipe.

How do I store leftovers?

If you have any leftover wraps, I suggest that you wrap them in plastic wrap and then place them in an airtight container. They should keep in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)

  • mayonnaise – I always go with either Hellman’s or Duke’s mayonnaise. I have not tried these with Miracle Whip.
  • pickles – of course Big Macs come with pickles but if you don’t like them then just leave them out.
  • mustard and ketchup – these are necessary to create that original Big Mac sauce flavor.
  • onion  – onions are part of that traditional Big Mac flavor but if they really aren’t your thing then you can leave them out.
  • ground beef – I suppose if you really wanted to change this up, you could use ground turkey or chicken but you’d really be losing the Big Mac flavor. You could also use a ground beef substitute like the Impossible meat.
  • tortillas – I went with a soft taco size flour tortilla for this but you could certainly go larger and use a burrito sized tortilla. You’ll just make fewer wraps. You could also go with a low carb tortilla option.
  • lettuce and cheese – I go with just regular iceberg lettuce but use what you like! Also, I went with a standard cheddar cheese but you could go with the more traditional American cheese slice. Use whatever cheese you enjoy!
Ingredients needed: mayonnaise, diced dill pickles, mustard, ketchup, smoked paprika, onion, ground beef, tortillas, lettuce and cheddar cheese.

HOW TO MAKE BIG MAC WRAPS:

Make the Big Mac sauce by whisking everything together in a bowl and refrigerate until needed. In a medium skillet, cook the ground beef and half of the chopped onions until beef is cooked thoroughly. If necessary, drain any grease from the pan. Transfer the beef to a serving bowl.

To assemble wraps, lay tortillas on a clean preparation surface. Add lettuce, pickles, cooked beef, onions, and Big Mac sauce.

  1. Have you tried them with sliced American cheese like the original Big Mac rather than shredded cheddar? If so, thoughts..

These wraps are BETTER than any Big Mac I’ve ever had. I have made them twice so far and everyone loves them – even those who don’t love Big Macs love them. The only thing I would change is to double the sauce amount – it is so good!

    1. I think it’s a personal preference. If you wanted to reheat them, I wouldn’t store them with any lettuce on them. I don’t mind them cold but they are good heated too 🙂

This recipe is very good! The Big Mac sauce is simple to make and better than the store-bought stuff. We really loved this and will definitely make again!

  4. These look so good I am a Big Mac lover. But I haven’t had any for a while. How long would they last in the fridge if they were wrapped with sides folded in then with plastic wrap or foil? Which one is the best? I would like to keep these on hand for meals or maybe cut them in half for snacks.

    1. I definitely wouldn’t add lettuce if you keep them wrapped in the fridge because that lettuce will just wilt and get yucky. But without the lettuce you could wrap them and they’d be good for about 3-4 days at least 🙂

oh wow…ok…where do I start? I LOVE A BIG MAC (though I don’t eat them, because McDonald’s around us serve dry, old burgers…and they are extremely fattening to boot!). My daughter turned me on to a big mac wrap, and I had nothing to lose, so I made yours. It did not disappoint! The ONLY thing I did differently was…instead of chopping up pickles to put in the sauce, I used Wegman’s dill pickle relish. I also used Xtreme wellness wraps (because they are low in calories and a better choice for me personally). I may (next time) try using low fat mayo too (but for this time around, Hellman’s was what was used). The sauce was SPOT ON…and this couldn’t be easier to make. FABULOUS FABULOUS FABULOUS. Husband and son approved (and actually agreed…way better than the actual big mac…and my hubby said “that sauce is on POINT!”). Thank you for this! It’s a true keeper!

This is amazing! Tastes just like the real thing. I have made this recipe several times and it gets better and better. My old man actually asks for this recipe and that is saying a lot.
