A FLAVORFUL PIZZA-INSPIRED SOUP

I love those kinds of soups that are hearty and packed full of flavor so they are not only filling but they warm your bones on cold days. Well, this is one of those soups! I am a soup and salad person all the way. If you love these hearty soups like I do, then you are gonna LOVE this pizza soup! Oh my word, this turned out so incredibly yummy. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Why do you add sugar to the soup?

It’s good add just a touch of sweetness to tomato-based soups and sauces. It helps balance out the acidity of the tomatoes without making actually making it sweet at all.

What toppings are best for pizza soup?

We enjoy shredded mozzarella cheese and garlic croutons. But feel free to add in your favorite pizza toppings: mushrooms, Parmesan cheese and some fresh basil would be delicious.

Can spaghetti sauce be used instead of pizza sauce?

Absolutely! A 26 ounce jar or later should work.

How do I store leftover pizza soup?

Leftover soup can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This soup can also be frozen. Store in a covered freezer container or freezer-safe bag. The soup will keep frozen for 3 months.

I did the most amazing thing to this soup tonight… I put dumplings on top and it was aaaaamaaazinggg. ????
    1 cup flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 cup Parmesan
    1/2 tsp oregano

    Mix together and add:
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1/3 cup milk

Drop small spoonfuls onto simmering soup. Cover and steam 8-10 min. or until dough is done. I’ve made this soup many times and always ate it with breadsticks. This was a whole notch above that. We loved it. ????

Tried this tonight with a few tweaks but loved it! Skipped the sausage and used pepperoni sticks sliced instead and fresh herbs and tomatoes from the garden. And breadsticks instead of croutons. Awesome soup!

Yum! Going to get the few ingred. that I don’t have and make it for dinner tonight! Adding a pudding cake for dessert! Thank you for sharing and posting the recipe!,

  6. I made it using turkey sausage crumbles, and a jar of spaghetti sauce. I used one cup of beef stock and probably another two cups of water, since the sauce jar is a bit less than 2 cans of pizza sauce. I had frozen pepper and onion stir fry veggies, so I just chopped up some of that and threw it in. Shook on the usual Italian spices, some pepper, and at the last minute I threw in some ditalini. That only takes 10 minutes to cook up and adds a nice touch to the soup. It was delicious and really very easy. Great on this cold day.
