FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
It’s good add just a touch of sweetness to tomato-based soups and sauces. It helps balance out the acidity of the tomatoes without making actually making it sweet at all.
We enjoy shredded mozzarella cheese and garlic croutons. But feel free to add in your favorite pizza toppings: mushrooms, Parmesan cheese and some fresh basil would be delicious.
Absolutely! A 26 ounce jar or later should work.
Leftover soup can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This soup can also be frozen. Store in a covered freezer container or freezer-safe bag. The soup will keep frozen for 3 months.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- Italian pork sausage
- onion
- green pepper
- water
- pizza sauce
- pepperoni
- tomatoes
- sugar
- Italian seasoning
- garlic powder
- dried basil
- dried rosemary

HOW TO MAKE PIZZA SOUP:
In a large pot, over medium heat, brown and crumble sausage along with chopped green pepper and onion. I always season the meat with a little salt and pepper too. Once browned, drain any excess grease.

Add in both jars (or cans – whatever you have) of pizza sauce and water.

Add in spices and seasonings (Italian seasoning, garlic powder, basil, rosemary, salt, pepper and sugar.)

Stir in pepperoni and chopped tomatoes. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to low and allow it to simmer for just about 10 minutes.

But we love to add a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese and croutons to the top. That part is totally optional. This is such a flavorful soup all on it’s own.

Went shopping yesterday and bought all the ingredients for
Pizza soup w/ dough ball dumplings That’s what’s for dinner add a salad even better.
Can’t wait YUMMY…………
I did the most amazing thing to this soup tonight… I put dumplings on top and it was aaaaamaaazinggg. ????
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup Parmesan
1/2 tsp oregano
Mix together and add:
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/3 cup milk
Drop small spoonfuls onto simmering soup. Cover and steam 8-10 min. or until dough is done. I’ve made this soup many times and always ate it with breadsticks. This was a whole notch above that. We loved it. ????
Tried this tonight with a few tweaks but loved it! Skipped the sausage and used pepperoni sticks sliced instead and fresh herbs and tomatoes from the garden. And breadsticks instead of croutons. Awesome soup!
Love all your recipes! I’m hooked on your site! My husband is fine with that. Thanks for such a great blog.I have told all my friends to check it out.
Yum! Going to get the few ingred. that I don’t have and make it for dinner tonight! Adding a pudding cake for dessert! Thank you for sharing and posting the recipe!,
I made it using turkey sausage crumbles, and a jar of spaghetti sauce. I used one cup of beef stock and probably another two cups of water, since the sauce jar is a bit less than 2 cans of pizza sauce. I had frozen pepper and onion stir fry veggies, so I just chopped up some of that and threw it in. Shook on the usual Italian spices, some pepper, and at the last minute I threw in some ditalini. That only takes 10 minutes to cook up and adds a nice touch to the soup. It was delicious and really very easy. Great on this cold day.
Sounds fabulous, any version of pizza I am in!!
I've never thought of pizza in a soup, but now looking at your pictures it looks perfect!
I bought a pkg of the mini pepperoni so I wouldn't have to chop it and added mushrooms. Delicious!
That looks really good!
Looks DELICIOUS! It is finally soup weather in Alabama. I will be giving this a try very soon.
