Apple Fruit Salad (+Video)

This Apple Fruit Salad with Greek vanilla yogurt dressing is filled with apples, grapes, oranges and mixed with a creamy, cinnamon sauce.

A FALL-INSPIRED FRUIT SALAD

I think this is a perfect fall fruit salad. It has all those flavors of fall with apples and cinnamon. Of course, any time of year is a good time of year for fruit salad. The Greek yogurt dressing isn’t too heavy and adds just the right amount of sweetness to this fruit salad (without being too sweet.) Feel free to substitute the brown sugar with honey.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I keep apples from turning brown?

Lemon juice or powdered vitamin C. I’m using a (16 ounce) package of apples that are already sliced. These pre-packaged apples already have vitamin C added to keep them from turning brown quickly. I just chopped them up into thirds to make them more bite-sized. I have added lemon juice in this recipe just to be sure they don’t brown.

Do I have to use Greek yogurt?

I like to use the Greek Yogurt because it is thicker. It keeps the dressing from being too “soupy and it’s not quite as tart as sour cream.

What other fruits can you use?

This dressing can go with any fruits you might enjoy. So feel free to add whatever fruits you have on hand; blueberries, strawberries, etc. Just make sure if you use any canned fruit that you don’t get the kind that is packed in heavy syrup or it will be far too sweet. You want to look for fruits that are packed in 100% juice.

Notes

  • Use your favorite apples here. I think a mix of green and red works perfectly.
  • The lemon juice will help to keep the apples from turning brown.
  • I wouldn’t recommend making this more than 24 hours in advance.

  2. I don’t buy mayonnaise, because my husband refuses to eat it. Do you think it would make a huge difference if I left it out?

  3. The recipe states serves 6 can you please tell me what is a serving size.

  4. This looks fantastic! My husband's family is a big fruit salad family (fruit coctail amd cool whip) blach!! Not my favorite.. I will have to volunteer to bring the salad this next time and show them what a fruit salad should taste like. 😉 Thanks!

  5. Nice to see you redeemed yourself. That reminds me of the time I made cheesecake without sugar. Mom always said to put all your ingredients out before you bake. I should have listened.

  6. Sounds and looks fabulous Bran. Live and learn…it's good to know you've not been perfect all your life. ;-} I really enjoyed seeing the photo of you two in your younger days. Glad you shared.

  7. You did a lovely job redeeming yourself from that first experience, which makes a fun story to tell now but wasn't so much fun then. I like the yogurt in the dressing and will have to give it a try this summer.
