Party Mixes are my thing. I absolutely love them and I love making them! They are great for any occasion such as get togethers, holidays, football games, you name it! We just make The Best Party Chex Mix anytime for snacking because we love it so much. With the combination of the ingredients and butter and spices it really puts this party mix over the top and people always ask for more. This is one of those recipes you’ll be keeping on hand for a long time to come.

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR MAKING THE BEST PARTY CHEX MIX:

  • Rice Chex may also be used as well as any other add-ins or substitutions that you’d like.

  • For a little more kick to the sauce, you can use smoked or Mexican paprika.
  • We have used buffalo sauce to kick this up a notch as well. I love the extra spice that it gives to this Party Mix.
  • This can be made in the Crock Pot. Cook on low for 1½ to 2 hours in a greased crock pot, stirring every 20 minutes to prevent it from burning.
  • You can use pretzel bites instead of the normal pretzels if you like, we have used both and loved both as well.

  • butter
  • worcestershire sauce
  • celery salt
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
  • onion powder
  • cheerios
  • corn chex
  • wheat Chex
  • mini pretzels
  • peanuts

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST PARTY CHEX MIX:

In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and spices; set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the cereals, pretzels, and peanuts.

Add the butter mixture to the cereal and stir to coat.

Spread the mixture out on the prepared baking sheet and bake at 250F degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to prevent burning.

Allow the mixture to cool on the pan before serving.

HOW TO STORE:

The Best Party Chex Mix can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container or ziptop bag for up to 5-6 weeks, we leave ours in the cupboard to snack on when we like. This can also be frozen in a freezer bag, and will keep for up to 6 months, before serving let come to room temperature.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons celery salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups Cheerios cereal
  • 2 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 3 cups mini salted pretzels (unsalted can be used)
  • 1 ½ cups salted peanuts (unsalted can be used)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce and spices, set aside.
  • In large bowl, combine the cereals, pretzels, and peanuts.
  • Add the butter and seasoning mixture to the cereal mixture and stir to coat, making sure everything is covered.
  • Spread the Chex Mix out on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool on the pan before serving.

    Quick and easy to put together…make a Double batch and keep in a Airtite Container or Double Zip Gallon Freezer Bags work great. A Family Favorite during the Holiday Season.

    Oh my gosh – this is the Chex Mix recipe I grew up with while living with my grandmother back in the 60’s! She called it Nuts and Bolts, and prepared it often for her bridge group when they came over to play cards. It’s very hard to find this old time ‘original’ recipe <3 Thanks for the good memories – I will start making this again and surprise my sisters!
