FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What are Chicken Croquettes?

Chicken Croquettes are chicken patties. Depending where you’re from, they might be called one or the other. They’re fried patties made with ground chicken along with spices and herbs with a crunchy crust.

Why are they called Croquettes?

To put it simply, croquettes came from the French word croquer. In French, the word “croquer” means to crunch or to bite.

What if I don’t have Italian breadcrumbs?

No worries! You can use regular breadcrumbs or use Panko breadcrumbs. If using regular plain bread crumbs, make sure you to add 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning to the mix for flavor.

What other seasonings can I add?

To amp up the flavor profile try adding cayenne pepper, chipotle powder, sweet or smoked paprika, poultry seasoning, creole seasoning, bbq seasoning, or even Old Bay. Keep in mind that if you add a premade seasoning mix, cut the salt by half since these typically have additional salt in the mixture.

Can I add cheese?

You bet! To cheese these Chicken Patties up, try adding some shredded mozzarella, cheddar, swiss, Monterey Jack, or pepper jack cheese to the ground chicken mixture before you roll them in the flour.

What sauces can these be served with?

I’ve had them served with chicken gravy and that was delicious! You could try some honey mustard, white pepper gravy, ranch, bbq sauce, or even garlic aioli (that’s just a fancy word for garlic mayonnaise.)

How do I serve these?

These would also be great chicken patties for sliders or you can make larger ones for chicken burgers. Talk about delicious!

Can I use canned chicken for chicken patties?

Yes. You can use canned chicken to make chicken patties. I find that packaged ground chicken is more affordable for this recipe but you can certainly use canned chicken. You would probably need 2 (12.5 ounce) cans for this recipe.

Can these be made in the air fryer?

They can! Just see my recipe for Air Fryer Salmon Patties on how to do that.

How to store leftovers?

Store leftover chicken patties in an airtight container and place it in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can freeze them in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months.
Reheat your leftovers in the microwave, the oven or air fryer until warmed through.

I have at last found a recipe using minced chicken that isn’t bland and was delicious….made them exactly as written and discovered they were even more so eaten cold next day. This recipe is a keeper for me. Am tempted to make them cocktail size the next time I am “asked to bring a plate”
