Welcome! My name is Brandie and I grew up as a Navy brat and then eventually I married a Navy man.
My husband is out of the military now and we proudly call Southwest Virginia our home.

My husband and I have been married for 15 years. We have been blessed with two beautiful children. I'm the stepmom to Zackary, who is 20 years old, plays lacrosse and is in his second year of college this year. My baby, Alexander, is 6 years old and is beginning to share his Momma's passion for cooking and baking (mainly so he can lick the bowls).
I also have a job outside the home that keeps me busy.

When I was a kid, I loved to put together food. I can remember the first thing I ever learned to cook was a fried egg. Then I moved up to crepes filled with grape jelly (sounds a bit icky, huh?). I got busy with work and life and for years I didn't cook much at all. Then when my youngest son was born, I was able to stay at home with him for a couple of years and I began to reacquaint myself with my kitchen and my love of cooking.
I am not an expert. I am not Martha Stewart. I don't know everything there is to know about cooking and baking but I'm learning a little more everyday. I will never say that I can cook as good as your Momma or your Grandmomma. I'm just your average homecook doing my best to get a good meal on the table for my family.
This is Country Cookin' for today's cook. As much as we would all love to have the time to make our own chicken stock from scratch, or simmer greens with hamhocks on the stove all day, or make red velvet cakes with cream cheese frosting from scratch, most of us just don't have that kind of time these days. You can still get a good meal on the table, with a few shortcuts to help you along the way.

Welcome to my world, I hope you'll enjoy this ride with me!
