We loved it and it had fantastic flavor! I actually put another piece of baked garlic toast on top to make it like an actual burger.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What should I serve with these Cheeseburger Texas Toast slices?

You can serve these with French Fries, Tater Tots, Onion Rings, baked beans or a good ole side salad with your favorite dressing.

What else can I add to these?

You can add things like pickles, lettuce, or bacon pieces to the tops of each Texas toast.

Where do I get (or how do I make) Big Mac Sauce?

You can either buy it or make some Homemade Big Mac Sauce that I used in my Big Mac Salad recipe. If you’re looking in stores, Walmart calls it secret sauce (not a paid affiliate link), but other stores or brands may call it something else. It’s usually a “burger sauce”, or something similar.

How many servings does this make?

If you serve each of these as their own serving, you’ll have 8 servings. If you double up and serve two per person, if serving to more hungry adults or older teens, this recipe will serve 4 people. It is easy enough to double or even triple if serving a large crowd.

How do I store leftovers?

Leftovers can be covered and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. The bread may get soggy over time. I do not suggest freezing as they don’t reheat really well after being frozen.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)

  • ground beef – you can certainly use ground turkey or ground chicken if you prefer.
  • yellow onion – don’t like onion? Just leave it out or season with a little onion powder or dried onion flakes.
  • hamburger seasoning– I used this Hamburger Seasoning Blend (paid affiliate link) – see my ingredient image below, but using this type of seasoning is not required. Instead, you can just use a little salt and pepper. Or make your own simple burger seasoning by combining equal parts salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • frozen garlic Texas Toast – it doesn’t have to be a name brand – the store brand versions work just fine.
  • shredded cheddar cheese– any other types of shredded cheese can be used. If you want a kick of heat, try using Pepper Jack!
  • Big Mac sauce– I share more on where to find this (if you want to buy it) or how to make your own in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) section above. However, if you don’t like it, you can omit it altogether.
  • dried parsley  – totally optional, just adds a little color at the end.

HOW TO MAKE CHEESEBURGER TEXAS TOAST:

Preheat the oven to 425° F. In a large skillet, add the ground beef, onions, and seasonings over medium heat. Cook and crumble until fully cooked and the juices run clear. Discard any excess grease.

Ground beef, onion, and seasonings in a skillet.

While the beef is cooking, place Texas toast slices on a baking sheet and cook on the middle rack for 5 minutes. Flip the toast over and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the edges are a little crispy. You do not want the bread to be soft.

Once cooked, remove from the oven. Press the center of the toast with the back of a spoon. Scoop the meat mixture onto each piece of toast.

Divide the shredded cheese evenly between the toast slices on top of the ground beef mixture. Place back into the oven for 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted. Remove from the oven and drizzle Big Mac Sauce on top.
