FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can I make my own pie crust?

Yes, if you do not want to use refrigerated pie crust you can absolutely make your own homemade crust. Remember you will need 2 crusts so you have tops and bottoms for the Blueberry Hand Pies.

Can I make my own blueberry pie filling?

Absolutely, homemade pie filling is super easy to whip up and if you have a recipe that you love then you can absolutely use it. Or you can use my Blueberry Pie Filling recipe as well.

Do I have to use a powdered sugar glaze?

No you do not. Rather than glazing the hand pies, you can also sprinkle them with coarse sugar or brush the tops with water, milk, or an egg wash.

Can I use other pie fillings?

The best things about these is that you can use various pie fillings. Some of our favorites include apple, cheery, lemon, peach, etc.

Can I bake these if I don’t have an air fryer?

Yes! If you do not have an air fryer (or you would rather just bake these) you can. To do that place on a sprayed baking sheet and bake 450°F for about 10-12 minutes.

How do I store leftovers?

These can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container where they will keep for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave, air fryer, or toaster oven.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER BLUEBERRY HAND PIES:

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F. If your air fryer does not have a pre-heat function, that is just fine – you may need to cook your pies for just a minute longer. Set out pie crusts at room temperature for about 30 minutes prior to preparing hand pies. Unroll one crust at a time onto a parchment lined or lightly floured surface. Use a biscuit cutter or round cutter to cut out 4-inch round circles of pie crust – we used a fluted biscuit cutter for a decorative touch. Repeat with the other crust for a total of 12 pie crust circles.
