fresh chopped parsley or sliced green onions,(for garnish)
Instructions
Take out 1 bag frozen meatballs and allow them to slaw slightly (just enough so that you can thread a skewer through it.
When ready, preheat oven to 375F degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Unroll 1 tube breadstick dough and separate into 12 breadsticks.
Poke one end of one of the pieces of breadstick dough with one of the 12 bamboo skewers then add one meatball then thread the dough around the meatball.
Repeat threading with breadstick and 2 additional meatballs.
Place about one inch apart on cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining breadsticks and meatballs.
Bake for about 20 minutes. Meatballs should be cooked through and the breadsticks a nice light, golden brown. You may need to rotate the trays halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Once finished, take out pans and sprinkle the meatballs with about 1 cup mozzarella cheese and top that off with about 1-2 Tablespoons Italian seasoning.
Put the meatballs back into the oven for another 3-4 minutes or until cheese has melted.
Serve with 1 cup marinara sauce (warmed up). Optional: Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or sliced green onions,.
Notes
Use any flavor meatball your family will enjoy. Original, turkey, Italian or even the plant-based meatballs will work.
Crescent roll dough or pizza dough can be substituted for the breadstick dough. You just need to cut it into 12 pieces.
Each skewer has 3 meatballs so you'd need 36 meatballs. However, some frozen meatballs are larger than others so use your best judgement on how many meatballs you can fit on your bamboo skewers.
If your meatballs aren't thawing fast enough, just pop them into the microwave for a few seconds. Don't cook them! Just get them soft enough to poke them with a skewer.
