Chewy, gooey and delicious, these Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are an easy recipe that takes simple ingredients to create an amazing dessert!
Spray a 9x9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray then line with parchment paper (this will really help with removal after baking.) Preheat the oven to 350°F.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
In another mixing bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar. Mix with an electric mixer until creamed.
Add egg and vanilla extract. Mix with an electric mixer until combined.
Slowly add flour mixture to butter mixture, mixing as you go until it’s all just combined.
Add chocolate chips and caramel bits. Stir until combined.
Spread cookie batter into the prepared baking pan. Spread evenly and smooth with a spatula (or use your hand). It's easiest if you spray your hand with a little nonstick cooking spray first.
Sprinkle the top with a little bit of salt flakes (optional).
Bake for 20-22 minutes or until golden and cooked to your desired crispiness. Remember it will continue cooking a little when you remove it from the oven.
Once cool, remove from the baking dish and cut into 9 squares then serve!
Notes
These can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
We like to use semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can use milk or dark chocolate.
