These Bacon Wrapped Meatballs are homemade meatballs, wrapped in bacon and brushed with a bbq sauce and grape jelly mixture. A fun and tasty appetizer!
Place the onion powder, garlic powder, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper into a medium-sized bowl and stir together until combined.
Add the ground beef and mix well. Roll meatball mix into 12 even-sized balls, a little over 2 tablespoons each, set aside.
Slice the bacon in half down the middle, then slice it again in half length-wise. Using a toothpick, secure two slices of the cut bacon around each meatball in a criss-cross pattern. Repeat with all of the meatballs.
Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the bacon is crispy.
While the meatballs are baking, mix together the bbq sauce and grape jelly in a small bowl.
When the bacon is crispy, brush the meatballs with the sauce. Place them back in the oven for 5-10 minutes until glazed and caramelized.
Serve with a garnish of parsley, optional.
Notes
You can use my homemade meatball recipe above or your own favorite blend if you like.
Thick cut bacon is best used in this as it will give more texture and better to hold your meatball together. But you can use what you have on hand.
Toothpicks are encouraged to hold the bacon on and help the bacon not shrink off the meatballs when they cook.
Use your favorite BBQ Sauce for this recipe, we like to use Honey BBQ!
Make sure you bake these on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. They can make quite a mess and it is best for removal and clean up.
You can easily double this recipe to serve more people.
Mix equal parts of BBQ Sauce and jelly to make a dipping sauce for the side.
