Glazed Apple-Maple Blondies

  • for the blondies:
  • 1 1/3 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cups chopped & peeled Granny Smith apples
  • for the glaze:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar


  • Preheat oven to 350f degrees.
  • Line a 13x9 baking pan with parchment paper (go up the sides.)
  • In a large bowl, beat brown sugar, melted butter, syrup and vanilla until blended.
  • Then beat in eggs.
  • In another bowl, whisk flour, salt and baking soda.
  • Gradually add flour mixture into brown sugar mixture.
  • Adding just a little at a time so the flour doesn't fly everywhere.
  • Finally stir in chopped apples.
  • Spread mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes.
  • Just before blondies are finished baking, prepare the glaze.
  • In a small sauce pan, melt butter over medium-low heat.
  • Stir in syrup and brown sugar.
  • Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  • Cook and stir until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  • Pour glaze over warm blondies and spread it all over.
  • Allow blondies to cool then cut into 16 bars and serve!
