Garbage Bread may seem like a silly name for a recipe, but trust me, this stuffed bread is delicious! It's basically hamburger ingredients rolled up in dough!
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large pan, add 1 pound ground beef and ½ cup diced onion. Cook and crumble the ground beef. Season with ¼ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper.
Once cooked, drain any excess grease.
Roll out the 11 ounce tube Pillsbury refrigerated French bread dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
Spread 1/3 cup ketchup and 3 Tablespoons mustard evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
Evenly layer the cooked beef on top of the ketchup and mustard, then sprinkle the 6 slices cooked and crumbled bacon and 2 dill pickle spears, chopped on top.
Place 8 slices American cheese on top in a single layer.
Roll up the dough starting from one long end to the other, sealing the edges.
Place the rolled-up dough onto the prepared baking sheet (seam side down).
Brush the dough with 1 large egg, beaten and sprinkle 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds on top.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.
Once cooked, take it out and let it cool for at least 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
We like to serve this with Thousand Island dressing for dipping!
Notes
You can make other flavor variations of this bread - like a BBQ Chicken version, Pizza version, or a Breakfast version. See more on these ideas in the post above.
Try other cheese varieties to change up the flavorings.
Feel free to use store-bought bacon pieces if you don't have time to make the bacon.
Double this recipe and make an extra loaf to freeze for later.
This is a great recipe to make ahead, see our tips in the post.
