Pizza Pull-Apart Sliders (+Video)
Remix pizza night by serving pizza sliders instead! Pizza Pull-Apart Sliders are stuffed with cheese, pepperoni, sausage with herb topping!
AN EASY, CHEESY PIZZA-INSPIRED SLIDER
My family and I usually have a designated pizza night a couple of times a month. My son loves to help make pizza so I’ll pick up some store-bought pizza dough and toppings and we can make it together pretty fast. These pizza pull-apart sliders are a funny little wist on our usual pizza night.
TIPS FOR MAKING PIZZA SLIDERS:
- You can have a lot of fun with this recipe by adding whatever toppings your family loves. I even picked up pre-cooked sausage to make this even easier.
- The seasoned buttery topping on this is amazing. It really makes these special. You can use as little or as much of it as you like. Some people don’t enjoy a lot of seasoning so you can make the call yourself.
- Definitely serve with marinara or pizza sauce!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- dinner rolls
- pizza sauce
- mozzarella cheese
- pepperoni
- cooked sausage
- butter
- Parmesan cheese
- garlic salt
- onion powder
- dried oregano
- crushed red pepper
HOW TO MAKE PIZZA SLIDERS:
Preheat oven to 350f degrees. Spray the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Slice the rolls horizontally (while still attached) to make a top and bottom bun.
You’ll want to make sure that you have the thicker part of the bun on the bottom. Since it’s going to be carrying a lot of the load with all the toppings. 🙂
Place bottom bun into prepared baking dish. Spread pizza sauce onto rolls.
Next, add 6 slices of cheese (covering all of the pizza sauce.)
On top of the cheese layer, add all the slices of pepperoni.
Sprinkle the top of the pepperoni with crumbled sausage.
Add the remaining 6 slices of cheese on top.
Then cover all of it with the top bun.
Now, make the seasoned buttery topping. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and stir well.
Then, using a brush (or a spoon) spread topping all over the sliders. Be sure to get the sides too!
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 15 minutes. You’ll want to see that the cheese is all nice and melty around the edges.
Didn’t eat them all? No problem – they re-heat great in the microwave.

Could you tell me what kind of sausage you use? Thanks in advance!
I’m going to try these but leave the sauce off since I can’t stand soggy bread. I plan to serve the sauce as a dip on the side!
Has anyone tried freezing these? I’d love to have a batch of these ready to bake in my freezer for those crazy days or to take to a neighbor.
Hi Kim – my only concern on freezing them is they would get soggy. So perhaps try freeing them without the butter topping and only add that just before cooking. 🙂
Can this be prepped the night before OR will the sauce be an issue sitting on rolls overnight?? 🙁
That’s what I’m wondering, need to make up a couple of hours early
Hi Hazel! I wouldn’t recommend putting the sauce on ahead of time. The bread would get soggy. :/
I made these last night and they were phenomenal! One thing I will say is go easy on the crushed red pepper. You don’t need nearly as much as the recipe calls for. I also warmed one up today and the bottom bun was soggy because of the sauce, but it honestly didn’t take away from the flavor, it was just a little messier.
Hello, wondering if I can prepare this then freeze for later. If so, what advice on baking…temp? Frozen or thawed?
I’ve made this a few times and loved it. But planning meals for a family with kids that are going through tough times.
Just wondering if anyone has eaten these cold and if they tasted good. It seems like they would. I’m always trying to change my daughter’s lunch box food up so she doesn’t get tired of the same old thing and I think these would be something great to put in the rotation!
Just did a pan of these for a trial run to serve as appetizers at a Italian pasta buffet reception. ALL my family and I LOVE them! These will go into my recipe folder! YUM! Thank you.
I made 3 dozen of these for a potluck at work and they were a huge hit!! I didn’t even get to try one, because they were gone so fast!!
These are amazing! I made these originally for my mother and me. But then I made them for my fiance and his family, and then for my grandmother. These are really delicious, but I had to cut back on the butter topping because whenever I made them, they became soggy (it might have been because I never slice the rolls right!), but I’m going to try halving the butter topping and see how that goes. But the topping is delicious! It reminds me of the topping on the breadsticks at Pizza Hut! Yum!
Oh! My! Gosh! SOOO GOOD! Hubby went crazy! I made them with Walmart’s Garlic Texas Toast because I make EVERYTHING with Walmart Texas Toast! Definitely added to my meal plan rotation! 🙂
Woo hoo! I love me some Great Value Texas Toast too!! Ha! 🙂
Looks delicious! I can’t wait to try ,but it sounds like a wonderful to make. Thanks
I made these for the Super Bowl party. Everyone loved them????????????????
I have them in the oven right now for our Super Bowl Party. I’ve made them several times for guests and they are always a hit! Thanks!
Ty for the pizza sliders recipe me and my son omgg ty again
These are delicious, but the topping is a tad bit salty. I am making a new batch without the garlic salt. Thank you for the recipe!
I tried this recipe tonight and because of some dietary restrictions in my family I replaced the garlic powder, onion salt and parmesan with Mrs. Dash garlic and herb and it turned out great!
Would you be able to put bell peppers, onions and ham on this too? Or would that be an overload of ingredients?
Jaryn; I make my own sauce and adding diced pepper, oinion, mushrooms right into my sauce and letting it simmer for awhile on the stove. In place of ham, I have used Canadian bacon, drying it really well so that it isn’t so wet.
I lay the Canadian bacon on paper towels, lay another layer of paper towel. on top and them roll up to absorb all that moisture from the Canadian bacon. I have also used crumbled bits of bacon on my sliders.
What brand of dinner rolls did you use?
Hi Amanda! I used the King’s Hawaiian Brand. Hope that helps!
I made these for our tailgating group and glad I doubled them. Huge hit. I used fresh mozzarella and sliced it instead of the deli sliced mozzarella. Highly recommend that. Otherwise, followed the recipe exactly. This will go in my rotation for sure.
Yay, so glad everyone loved them!
Did the roll get mushy at all with the sauce on it? Worried about the bottom getting mushy quickly.
Two things to try if you’re worried about soggy bread: Brown the bottoms of the rolls under the broiler for one minute before adding the sauce, and/or put the first cheese layer on the bottom, then the sauce.
Not at all
What a fabulous recipe! I love it and hope to serve it to my family one of these days. Pinned!
Same here Brenda. I have gone up and down several times. No small picture or print button.

I guess I must be blind because I don’t see a Print button, and I’ve went up and down several times to no avail..
You aren’t blind Brenda – it was hiding on you because I accidentally deleted it! So sorry! You should see it at the bottom of the post now!
How can I print this recipe without pictures?
