Apple Dessert Pizza (+Video)
This Apple Dessert Pizza is a quick dessert that everyone loves! Pizza crust, apple pie filling, crumble topping and a sweet icing drizzle.
A FUN WEEKNIGHT DESSERT RECIPE
This dessert pizza used to be a favorite of mine at Pizza Hut when I was a kid. I would get my free “Book-It” pizza (earned by reading lots of books) and then grab a couple of slices of the dessert pizza off the buffet. So, I figured I would try to re-create that favorite apple pie pizza!
CAN I USE DIFFERENT PIE FILLINGS?
The beauty of this dessert pizza is how many options you have. You’re only limited to the number of canned pie fillings you can find. Blueberry, Blackberry, Lemon, Cherry, Strawberry, Peach…you name it.
The only small change you would make would be in the crumb topping. For this apple dessert pizza, I add ground cinnamon to the crumb topping. I probably wouldn’t use the cinnamon with any other pie fillings except for maybe the peach. And with the peach I would cut back the cinnamon to only a teaspoon. I absolutely love cinnamon with apple but you can certainly make it to the taste that your family loves.
Try making this with a homemade pizza dough like I do in my recipe for Cherry Dessert Pizza.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- store-bought thin pizza crust
- apple pie filling
- salted butter
- light brown sugar
- all-purpose flour
- cinnamon
- powdered sugar
- milk
HOW TO MAKE EASY APPLE DESSERT PIZZA:
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Take crust out of package and place on round baking sheet. Now it’s time to stab the apples. Open your can of pie filling and get in there with a sharp knife and pull the knife back and forth across the apples. This will chop them up and give you more apple filling across your whole pizza. I do this a lot with canned apples, remember those EASY APPLE DANISHES?
Spread the apple pie filling evenly on the pizza crust.
To make the crumb topping: in a bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. You can use a fork, a pastry cutter or your hands to do this.
You want the butter to be evenly distributed and the mixture should look nice and crumbly.
Sprinkle the crumb topping all over the apple filling.
Bake until heated through and crumb topping is slightly browned. While pizza is cooling, start making the icing. Whisk together powdered sugar and milk. Add milk slowly until you get the consistency you like.
Drizzle icing all across pizza. I usually make a bunch of lines one way, then turn it around and make some more lines the other way. Whatever strikes your fancy. You’ll probably have a little icing leftover. We save that and add a bit more icing to his individual slices. Using a sharp pizza cutter, slice up your pizza and serve!

So I tried it using the canned cinnamon rolls. It had a great taste, but was a little thin…needs maybe another 1/2 can!
LOVE your website! Have made many recipes, and plan on doing many many more! I love the idea for this fruit pizza, but instead of pizza crust, I'm going to try using canned cinnamon rolls! Think it will be awesome!!
Brandi,
I love your recipes – except they make me hungry! I am like you though, the recipe books I make up tend to have a very large dessert section. I would love to make all of them, but then my clothes wouldn't fit!
I really like using ginger with peaches. Maybe 1/2 or 3/4 as much as I would use cinnamon, but it seems to really work well with stone fruit. But apple pie really doesn't taste right without cinnamon. I also like a dash of nutmeg in any berry filling.
My husband LOVES anything with apples. His mom makes a sour cream apple pie and it don't take long for that pie to be gone. I am going to make him an apple pizza and then I'm going to make myself a cherry pizza and see how that is. Thanks again!
Reminder to oneself !!!~Do not read recipes on this blog site while starving~ I honestly want to eat the computer screen on this one!!
Just bought stuff to make this…can't wait. Love your recipes!
This looks amazing! My husband loves apple anything – and if it has a powdered sugar drizzle on the top then it's got to be great in his opinion. Can't wait to try this. Thanks much!!
