Crock Pot Lemon Garlic Chicken
This Crock Pot Lemon Garlic Chicken is made with chicken breasts, lemon juice, garlic, Italian seasonings and chicken broth. Delicious!
A DELICIOUS SLOW COOKER CHICKEN RECIPE
I don’t know about you but I’m always on the lookout for new chicken recipes. And I’m always trying to think of a new way to make it that doesn’t involve the same ole ingredients. We love our old favorites but you gotta switch things up from time to time. Have you seen my recipe for Perfect Roast Chicken? It’s kinda the same concept. The chicken takes on such great flavor from the lemon and garlic.
TIPS FOR MAKING THIS DELICIOUS SLOW COOKER MEAL:
- I know lots of people are on the look out for healthier but super yummy ways to make chicken. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts can sometimes be difficult to cook because they can tend to dry out really easily if you aren’t careful. Cooking chicken in your slow cooker is a way to add a ton of flavor but also make your chicken super tender.
- In addition, adding lemon to chicken, like in this Crock Pot Lemon Garlic Chicken recipe, tenderizes the meat while adding flavor.
- If you want to reduce the carbs even further, try substituting the all-purpose flour with almond flour or just skip the flour altogether.
WHAT SIDE DISH CAN I SERVE WITH LEMON GARLIC CHICKEN?
This is delicious served with some rice or Brussel Sprouts, Ranch Roasted Potatoes or perhaps some Italian Green Beans. I think this chicken would also be amazing chopped up and put in a crisp, green salad. I hope you’ll give this one a try. It is definitely a keeper!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or chicken tenders)
- all-purpose flour
- vegetable oil (or butter)
- salt & pepper
- Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
- minced fresh garlic
- fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- chicken broth
HOW TO MAKE CROCK POT LEMON GARLIC CHICKEN
Cut chicken breasts into thirds. Note: You can certainly leave your chicken breasts whole for this. Just adjust cooking time accordingly. Coat chicken breast pieces lightly in flour, shaking off excess, and place on a plate.
Heat 2-3 Tablespoons oil in a large skillet over high heat. You want to get that pan nice and hot! Add in half the chicken pieces and brown on both sides (about 3 minutes per side). Season chicken with a bit of salt and pepper while it’s in the pan.
Take those pieces out, add a bit more oil if necessary then brown last batch of chicken. You aren’t cooking the chicken all the way through. We just want to give it a nice color, which will also add to the overall flavor of the chicken. Then put browned chicken into a 4-quart crock pot. Sprinkle chicken with dry Italian dressing mix. Add in minced garlic. Then pour in lemon juice and chicken broth.
Cover with lid and cook on low for about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. The chicken will be very tender so take care when pulling it out of the crock pot. Just spoon a bit of the sauce right on top of the chicken before serving.

Could you use chicken tenderloins instead of cutting up a chicken breast?
I used the tenderloins, and it turned out great. 🙂
What size crock pot do you use for this recipe?
A 4 to 5 quart slow cooker would work just fine for this recipe. Hope that helps.
Can this be cooked on high?
I have never cooked this on high but if you do, just cut the time in half and check it to make sure it is done.
Can you use Good Seasons zesty Italian salad dressing mix?
Absolutely! Enjoy
I thought this dish was delicious. I made my own seasoning packet from a website that had the recipe for good seasons italian dressing. I also took the lemon and water and deglazed the pan I cooked the chicken in to get all those good bits of flavor. Very easy recipe, and very delicious!
Would you be willing to share the recipe for the dressing that you made? I would like to try it also. Thank you!
Very good! I def recommend! My husband even loved it! I followed recipe exactly except just used chicken tenderlions instead of cutting up breast!
Could you use Meyer lemon juice in this or would it throw the other flavors off?
Love this chicken garlicky recipe but to add a bit of a difference add 1 teaspoon of Tumeric – it really makes a delicious difference.
Made this for dinner tonight to mixed reviews, will definitely try again but reduce lemon juice to 1/4 cup and increase chicken broth.
Just made this tonight and it was a BIG hit! The chicken was so flavorful and tender, the hubby and kids were really impressed. This is the second crockpot recipe I have made from your blog; I made the beef tips and rice last week and everyone had seconds. Great recipes and great time savers!!
Thank you Brandie, this will be one that I will add to my crockpot recipes. I just got the Ninja Slow cooker and its not only a slow cooker but also has stove top settings and oven settings also a buffet setting. This thing is amazing and wanted to let you know. I can even put the removable pan on the stove to brown before slow cooking but it isn't actually necessary since the stove top setting gets hot enough to actually work like your stove top.
I make your lasagna in it and because of the shape I don't have to break the noodles, they fit perfectly.
You share so many great recipes thought I would share a great find with you.
Tried this tonight and even my pickiest loved it. Hubby is taking leftovers for his lunch tomorrow. Thanks for the great recipe.
Yum
If I choose not to brown the chicken before do I need to still coat with the flour?!
I made this last week and it was really good. Even my 6-year-old ate it! (1 out of 4 kids is pretty good odds around our picky table). My husband asked for it to be added to "the list". That's extremely high praise! Great recipe!
I made this recipe tonight and it was very good. The only thing I will do different next time is thicken the sauce with a bit of cornstarch.
My husband really like it also, so it's Hubby approved!
Thanks for sharing this recipe…it's a keeper!
Thats what I did so the sauce was thicker.
With warm weather right around the corner, I'm on the lookout for new, easy crockpot recipes. This one looks like a winner! I especially like the idea of topping a salad with this!
Hope you love this one Trish!
This is such a great place to find the best recipes-Keep up the good work!!
Thank you so much for that! Makes my day to read that!
MMM – that sounds fabulous. We're eating lots of chicken these days and I think this one i'll do the trick. So glad I saw this. Thanks –
This looks delicious. My family is not a big fan of chicken breasts and I was wondering if I could make this with bone in chicken thighs?? And if so how long do you think it would need to cook for?? Thanks :o)
I don't see why not. As for the timing, thighs generally don't take real long to cook but they are bone-in so you have to add a bit of time for that. I would say maybe on low 4-6 hours at the most. If you are home, do a check around the 4 hour mark and see if your juices are running clear or check with a meat thermometer. Chicken is done at 165F.
Yummy! Looks great! I would't refuse such chicken for dinner 🙂
I just have to say your crockpot is adorable! I keep hoping my breaks so I have an excuse to buy a cuter one like yours! Oh and love the recipe too!
Thank you Sharon! I have way too many crock pots. LOL. I got this one at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks.
Is this slow cooker a 1.5 quart?
Hi Suzie, this one is a actually a 4 quart. 🙂
Do you have to brown them first? Thanks! Love your blog!
No you don't have to brown it first. The browning just adds an extra bit of flavor to the whole dish. But if you are short on time, just skip it.
I adore your dinner recipes, especially this! I'm in love with slowcooker recipes.
You are always so sweet Pamela – thank you!
If I don’t have any of the Italian dressing, what can I use as a substitute?
Hi Linda – the Italian dressing is pretty essential to this. Do you have ingredients to make your own?
This sure does look good! Gonna have to try it! I love your crock pot too. It's adorable! 🙂 Keep the slow cooker recipes coming sister! I'm always up for new ones. I'm a working mom and wife, and I love having some on hand so I don't have to come in and cook after a long day on the job. 🙂
Thank you so much Vickie! You know I love my crock pots! I'll do my best to try and bring you some more yummy recipes. 🙂
This was so good, my family loved it. Very simple to make. Will make this often. Thanks for all the great ideas you give us to make our meal time yummy.
Hi Dawne!! Yes!! That is so awesome!! Loved reading your comment! Thanks so much for coming back to let me know! 🙂
