Copycat Wendy’s Frosty (+Video)

This Copycat Wendy’s Frosty recipe only has two ingredients and makes enough for a small crowd. Creamy deliciousness!

A CREAMY, CHOCOLATE FROSTY RECIPE

The sweet treat that isn’t really ice cream and it’s not quite a milkshake. It’s in the in-between zone. This is handy if you don’t live close to a Wendy’s and everyone in my family loves to make this. If you have kids, it’s a fun and easy treat for them to make and you don’t have to worry about your Frostys melting on the drive home!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How many servings does this make?

This recipe will make about 8-10 Frosty’s (or is it Frosties? or just Frosty even though its plural? – someone help me answer this.)

What size ice cream maker is best?

I have a 1 ½ quart ice cream maker and this recipe works perfectly for this size. If your ice cream maker is larger, you may want to double the recipe.

Do you have to freeze the ice cream maker bowl first?

As far as I know, most ice cream maker bowls must be completely frozen before use. I cover it with plastic wrap (so it doesn’t form ice crystals on the bowl) and freeze for at least 24-48 hours. When I’m ready to use it, I pull off plastic wrap, pop it into position and turn it on

Can you use almond milk?

I don’t know. I only use cow’s milk so I honestly couldn’t tell you how it would work or set up with milk substitutes. If you try it, please let me know!

Can you make a Frosty without an ice cream maker?

If you don’t have an ice cream maker, just whisk together the two ingredients in a freezer-safe bowl, cover and stick into the freezer for several hours until it starts to get slushy. Stir again. Once it reaches the consistency of a frosty, then its ready to enjoy!

HOW TO MAKE A WENDY’S FROSTY:

In a medium bowl, whisk together chocolate milk and sweetened condensed milk until combined.

Pour into canister of ice cream maker. I turn my ice cream maker on before pouring. This helps to prevent the liquid from sticking to the sides right away. Then I pour the mixture into the bowl as it is turning.

Freeze according to your ice cream maker’s directions.

  1. Who knew that my favorite frosty could be so simple! I love that it's only 2 ingredients! Perfect! Thanks for sharing your recipe! : )

  2. I have such great memories of when I was little and broke my arm they would always give me coupons for free frosties. Somehow at age 4 that made breaking my arm well worth it. I will definitely be trying this recipe, I am pinning it now! Thanks so much for sharing and rekindling some childhood memories for me!

  3. Absolutely can't wait to try these. Put my ice cream bowl in the freezer already (i have the same one as yours too). I had another recipe for wendy's frosty but much more difficult than this so I never bothered to try it.

  4. My husband is not a fan of chocolate, but for some reason he loves a frosty from Wendy's. I will have to make this for him!

  5. I really really need to get an ice cream maker… lol! I haven't even had a frosty is almost 4 years!!! Yikes! Now I'm craving it something bad, because this looks so freaking awesome!

  6. You are too funny…tap, tap…LOL. And now on to your Frosty! Amazing! Thanks for finding the secret, Brandie!! Will try this soon~

  9. hehe I always dip fries in my frostys haha. It is like something that I just cannot resist doing. Your chilled beverage looks amazing

  10. I have the exact same ice cream maker here, so I can definitely use the amounts you recommended. I'm pretty sure I have a stray can of condensed milk here somewhere — from a key lime pie that never happened, most likely, so I can pick up some chocolate milk and make this happen!

  11. Not only is there NOT a Sonic anywhere near me, there is NOT a Wendy's either. Once again, you are my hero. awesome.

  12. Time to make a batch of french fries to go with the Frosty. I still dip my fries into my Frosty at Wendys. Itty Bitty will be singing your praises for this recipe.

  13. Patti, you could make this vanilla if you wanted. You can purchase vanilla flavored milk or you can just use a quart of white milk and add vanilla extract to it. Maybe about 1/2 tbsp. (or more depending on your taste) 🙂

    1. Thank you! to be frank i never did care for the chocolate 1 (to me it Always tasted like weak chocolate frozen ice pieces) no was Not the individual stores faults, cause i’ve tried many stores in Michigan, Florida, Kentucky & California! But the vanilla is the most delicious Love it
