Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug is perfect to make for just one or two servings. With just a few simple ingredients, it microwaves in minutes!
AN EASY MICROWAVEABLE COOKIE
Sometimes you just get a hankering for a warm chocolate chip cookie. There's nothing like a warm and slightly gooey chocolate chip cookie. And sometimes you aren't in the mood to make up a whole batch of cookies where you end up with messy bowls and dishes to do. This Chocolate Chip Cookie In A Mug satisfies that craving without a whole lot of work or even turning on the oven!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Absolutely! Try it with dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate or white chocolate chips. Even peanut butter or cinnamon chips work!
This can also be made in a ramekin or small microwave-safe bowl. Just make sure whatever you use is microwave-safe.
Nope. No baking soda or baking powder is needed.
There is enough butter in this recipe to keep it from sticking to the inside of the mug.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)
- salted butter
- sugar
- light brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- egg yolk
- all-purpose flour
- semi-sweet chocolate chips

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE IN A MUG:
Place butter in a microwave-safe mug and melt in the microwave (about 20 seconds.)

Stir in white and brown sugars and vanilla extract.

Separate egg yolk from egg white and just add the egg yolk to the mug (discard remaining egg white or refrigerate it in an airtight container to use for later.)

Stir well, then add all-purpose flour.

Stir again and then add chocolate chips. Stir one final time.

Put the mug in the microwave and cook for approximately 40 seconds. Note: Cookie will continue to cook when you take it out. Let it cool slightly then dig in! Or better yet, add a little ice cream on top!

Don't normally post comments on these really long recipes but Ms. Country Cook you have done it girl. A cookie in a mug recipe that is actually good. P.s. if you do own an oven, double the measurements and you get four cookies out of it. May need to add a hair more flour than double for texture purposes.

This is the best mug recipe I have ever tried and I’ve tried quite a few.

This is good! I'd give it an 8/10. I'd use salted butter and don't skip the pinch of salt. Also make sure not to add any extra flour. Thank you! Delish!
Kaity Nickell
This is the easiest and best mug cookie I've ever tried! It's chewy, has melty chocolate, and is not too sweet. It's perfect, thank you!!
Brandie @ The Country Cook
Thank you so much Kaity! That really means a lot! One of these days I'll get these photos updated. They could use it. LOL

I loved this! I was craving a chocolate chip cookies but too lazy to make them. I was hesitant to make this as all other microwave baked goods I've tried have been so terrible I'd throw them out. This one on the other hand was amazing!!! The flavor was on point!
WOW THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
-This Is Not A Reply, I just needed to be at the top, sorry-
THE BEST MUG COOKIE IVE EVER TASTED! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY. Every other mug cookie I've tried has been dry and spongey, but this is delicious. Even better than oven cookies. I usually try not to eat too much sugar/carbs but this is addicting.

Absolutely delicious. I told my husband I was going to give this a try tonight and he expected it to be disgusting lol well we split one and he's wondering why I'm not up making 6 more right now it's soooooo good! Will make again and again.

I have major PTSD from prior attempts at making mugcakes but I read how great the reviews were so I decided to give it a try and can I just WOW. So simple so yummy! I chopped up some walnuts and left it for an extra 5 seconds so it would get more firm. Still so gooey and delicious! Can’t wait to make variations of this.

This is amazing! I would definitely recommend and try again. If you are someone who is picky like me and doesn't trust many of these kinds of recipes, I wouldn’t worry about this one! Usually, mug cookies turn out try and gross, but I had absolutely no problems with this! I would say definitely be careful with the salt because otherwise you can definitely taste it strongly. Other wise, amazing! 10/10 would recommend.
Sania
Sorry, meant to put 5 stars!

Can the dry ingredients be measured together? I’d like to make up a couple of “pre-mixed” sets so that I would only have to add melted butter, egg yolk & vanilla.
Brandie @ The Country Cook
Hi Shanon - I think that's a great idea. You could definitely do that. 🙂
Raquel
I agree that this is the best mug cookie I have tried. Thanks for the recipe!
Morgan
You are a genius! I just made this on a whim, and usually microwave cookies are bland, too dry, or not cooked enough. However, this recipe is amazing! I wish I had a smaller spoon because the cookie was gone too soon.
Kacie R
By far the best cookie in a mug I have made to date!
Anne Dauenhauer
This is perfect for satisfying my chocolate comfort food cravings. Just enough for me to share with my husband! One question: would it be possible to alter this recipe to make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies?
Jaiden
Usually I hate microwaved cookies but this is amazing

Brandie,
Can I ise egg beaters instead of the egg yolk?
Brandie @ The Country Cook
Hi Debbie, I haven't tested that out. If you experiment with it, please let me know!
Sarah
Easy and delicious! The best cookie mug recipe I have tried.
Brandie @ The Country Cook
Awwww - yay! Thank you Sarah!!
Jessica
I just made this and subbed stevia white and brown sugar, and almond flour. It was absolutely amazing!!!!! I have wanted something sweet and this hits the spot
Candee
Did you just use stevia to sub for white sugar and brown sugar?
David Ochoa
Sounds GREAT! Before I try, the written recipe says 40 seconds, but the top of the recipe says 40 min. Typo? Which is correct?
Brandie @ The Country Cook
Hi David! Sorry that was a typo in the printable recipe - it is definitely about 40 seconds. Microwaves vary so keep an eye on it 🙂
KJ
This came out perfect. Make it all the time now - thank you!
Carlee
I think this might be the start of a very slippery slope 😉 Having a hot chocolate chip cookie whenever you want it could be the start of something very dangerous!
ashbreanna9
Thank you! I live alone and I have made this so many times. It hits that cookie-craving spot!
Mini K
This was amazing!! I agree about the slippery slope; so easy to make and incredibly yummy. Will make again and again.
