Cherry Pie Bites

Cherry Pie Bites use simple ingredients like cherry pie filling and crescent rolls to make an easy, tasty dessert! Topped with an easy icing.

A SIMPLE AND QUICK DESSERT

The recipe I’m sharing today was one that was partly inspired by my Easy Apple Danishes and Crescent Roll Cheese Danishes and Cinna-Minis. I love to use crescent rolls to come up with fun and easy desserts. Plus, these are desserts my family can easily make themselves without a whole lot of assistance from me if they want to whip up a little something sweet.

CAN YOU USE DIFFERENT PIE FILLINGS?

We really loved these! The best thing about them is you can totally cater to what your family loves for a pie filling. There are just so many possibilities here. You could use Apple, Blueberry, Strawberry, Lemon and Chocolate pie fillings!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST)

cherry pie filling
crescent roll dough
powdered sugar
milk

crescent roll dough, cherry pie filling, powdered sugar, milk.

HOW TO MAKE CHERRY PIE BITES:

Preheat oven to 375F degrees. Spray regular muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray. Unroll individual crescent roll dough pieces and lay them in individual tins. Put the widest bit of the dough in the bottom. You may have to do this in two batches if you only have the one muffin tin.

spreading out crescent roll dough into each muffin cup.

Scoop pie filling into each crescent roll dough piece. Be generous with the pie filling. It’s okay if a little seeps out during baking. I actually like when you can see the bit of pie filling bubbling out while baking. A good 3 to 4 heaping tablespoons should work.

cherry pie filling added to each crescent roll dough triangle.

Start folding the dough around the filling as best you can. You should have three corners to pull in. Leaving small open gaps are totally okay here. The filling doesn’t have to be totally covered. The dough is gonna puff up.

Bake for about 13-14 minutes. Make sure the rolls are cooked all the way. You don’t want to bite into these and still have some of the crescent roll be doughy and not totally baked. They should be fairly firm to the touch and have nice, tan-brown tops.

Now for the glaze. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until it is smooth reaches a desired consistency (I like mine a bit more on the thick side.)

With a spoon, drizzle glaze over the warm bites. Note: I put my bites on a cooling rack with some wax paper underneath but you can drizzle the glaze on these while they are still in the muffin tin.

Now dig in!

I’ve been making these since you first posted this recipe years ago. Our favorite is with Comstock cherry pie filling, but I also make them with Comstock apple and blackberry pie filling. These are extremely delicious and extremely addicting!!!! So easy to make…the perfect quick snack!

I made these twice now. The first time the bottoms seemed a little underbaked. The second time – of course for an “event” – I had to bake them quite a bit longer in order to not have doughy bottoms. Still so tasty! The tops were quite a bit browner than in your pics, but not burnt or unpleasant to the eye.

Wow! These were delicious and so easy to make. I used apple pie filling and added a tiny sprinkle of cinnamon on top before folding over. I also added just a tad of almond extract to the glaze. They did not last long. Making with the cherries tonite!

Omg so fantastic. A cross between a doughnut and a desert.
My family loved it. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve made these twice now. The second time I used the foil cupcake liners. BIG mistake! The bottoms were not brown and were a bit gooey. They turned out much better in a greased tin. I also used “no sugar added” cherry pie filling due to diabetics in my family. A light confectioner sugar drizzle was just enough sweetness to make them super good! This is a wonderful quick and dirty dessert that will be a staple in my house!

I’ll take your advice and not bake them in foil cupcake liners but I think after I make them I will then store/serve them in foil cupcake liners. Thanks for the idea!

I have made these before for my boys and they are so good and extremely easy to make! Pillsbury makes cherry and Apple turnovers that you can get in the refrigerated section of your local grocery store that are just as good but so much more expensive! These are way more economical! Crescent rolls are very cheap and I always buy my pie filling at Dollar Tree where it’s always only a $1.00 which is so cheap for pie filling! I can feed my family of 5 on these for about $3.00 which is a lot better than buying 3 boxes of the Pillsbury kind at about $4.00 a box!

I saw someone asked on March 18 and October 13 about if these can be frozen and how to thaw them when you are ready to serve? Also do the instructions stay the same if you use different fruit? Also with icing?

  10. These look so good. What about sweet potato pie filling? Do you think they would work. I have a can of sheet crescent dough and was thinking about making miniature sweet potato pies.

  11. Making these today with strawberry Pie filling & will add a tsp. of my homemade vanilla extract to the glaze. Thanks for sharing!

  12. These look so yummy. I don't cook a lot anymore, so easy recipes are great. Can't wait to have my granddaughters bake these with me. Thank you for posting these easy recipes!
