Best Darn Backyard BBQ Recipes
Recently, a regional recipe contest was happening and it all had to do with an American summer tradition – a good ole BBQ! BUSH’S® Beans conducted a consumer survey earlier in the year about grilling habits. You can read all about that HERE. Then, inspired by that survey, they decided to host a fun recipe contest featuring the four main BBQ regions of the U.S. (Midwest, Northeast, South and West.) You can view all the winners HERE.
There were some really great recipes that came out of this contest that I am so excited to feature! The contestants had to come up with an original recipe inspired by their region and it had to be cooked on a grill and should pair well with one of BUSH’S® Baked Beans and/or Grillin’ Beans. I picked one winning recipe from each region to showcase. All I am gonna say is I am so glad I was not a judge for this contest because every single recipe I have made has had amazing flavor and they all represented their regions so well!
So let’s do a quick round-up of the selected winning recipes! Just click on the photos below and it will take you to the full recipe and you can grab a printable recipe while you’re there! First up – Northwoods Pie from Nancy V. representing the Northeast Region. Nancy is from Vermont so she definitely highlighted her state’s most famous export – maple syrup! She used BUSH’S® Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beansas an ingredient within the dish and it made all the difference in flavor. This dish is comfort food at its best!
Next up is Orange Honey Ribs from Mike C. representing the Midwest Region. Mike utilizes the big, thick St. Louis cut ribs and seasons them with a flavorful rub and tops it off with a sweet glaze and it all totally works! Mike pairs his ribs with BUSH’S® Bold & Spicy Baked Beans. I paired them with the new BUSH’S® Sriracha Beans .The sweet ribs with the spicy beans is the perfect contrast of flavors.
For our next winning recipe we have Stuffed Squash Bean Boats from Margee B. representing the West Region. Margee’s use of BUSH’S® Southern Pit Barbecue Grillin’ Beans® as a filling for zucchini was perfection. Without using any meat, she managed to create a recipe that was both tasty and totally filling. The pepper jack cheese topping added just enough zing to contrast with the sweet beans!
And last (but definitely not least!) we have BBQ Tex-Mex Tostadas from Lauren W. representing the South Region. Lauren totally got my vote for the most creative use of BUSH’S® Steakhouse Recipe Grillin’ Beans®. She uses them in place of refried beans and it is absolutely brilliant and the taste is fabulous! I think that might be my new favorite thing! She combined such simple ingredients in such a way that is so creative and incredibly tasty. Plus, she used super-affordable chicken thighs. A girl after my own money-saving heart. 😉
