This week, as we get ready for our Christmas celebrations, I would be remiss if I didn't take
some time to share my heart.
I know it has weighed heavy on all your hearts as well.
The horrific shooting in Newtown, CT has been felt around the world.
Losing a child (and their heroic protectors) is something no parent or family should ever have to experience.
It is why we all feel like those children were our children.
Their parent's hurt is our hurt.
We will never know what it feels like unless we have been in their situation, but we can imagine.
And I can guarantee you that what we imagine the hurt to feel like is nowhere even close to the actual hurt
and enormous pain they are experiencing.
So before we being this potluck, I'd like to start with a prayer.
God of hope, there is so much grief – all over the globe. No matter how dark, I trust in your unfailing love.
I pull myself up tall and remember your deep love for us, for me, for those in pain and sorrow today.
Give us the strength to act on your behalf as a hope bringer.
Show us the light still on the horizon.
Ease the pain of those who are suffering and let them feel your loving arms around them.
Amen.
We are so fortunate to be here today and to share this delicious food with you each week.
We all have so much to be thankful for.
So when you are feeling overwhelmed and frustrated by long lines, heavy traffic and short tempers,
take a moment remember that you are still here with a breath in your lungs.
Take the time to be good to yourself and others.
Just a note: we won't be having a Potluck next week.
We'll be taking a Christmas break but we will see y'all again after the holiday!
So let's take a look at some of the yumminess shared last week.
