Mini Cinnamon Roll Waffles

I should say, right off the bat, that this isn't really a recipe. It's more of an idea or a technique so to speak. And these aren't technically waffles in the traditional sense. They're cinnamon rolls made into the shape of waffles. So having said all that, they are scrumptious. It's a fun little twist to the usual cinnamon roll. You get a nice, slightly crispy exterior and a soft fluffy interior to these "waffles". And, the neat part about these is you don't even have to turn on your oven. Fun for breakfast or dessert. Just heat up the waffle iron and get started!
Ingredients:
1 tube of refrigerated cinnamon rolls
(and your waffle iron)

Directions:
Preheat your waffle iron.
I set mine on a lower temperature since my waffle iron tends to run a bit hot.
You don't want your cinnamon rolls to be burnt on the outside and raw on the inside.
So it's important that your waffle iron not be too hot.
Spray your waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray (top & bottom).
Place 2-3 cinnamon rolls onto the grates.
You want them close to the middle so they don't squirt out the sides.
Close lid and gently press down while it cooks. Don't press too hard. Just press down gently  so that both sides will cook evenly.  Cooking times will vary depending on your waffle iron.
It took about 2 minutes in mine. Just keep an eye on it as it cooks.
After they are finished, spread on the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls.
Serve warm.

I just love using my waffle iron for biscuits - I will try this Sunday! We always have those cinnamon rolls on Sunday mornings (I'm pretty sure I've done that for about 25 years now) but in the summer it's too hot to heat up the oven - This is perfect! Thanks!

This did get me to thinking - if you added some brown sugar and some cinnamon to your waffle recipe and then put a confectioner sugar icing on top - you COULD make cinnamon roll waffles. :D
