White Chocolate Blondies with Maple Butter Sauce

I believe I have mentioned in previous posts that I'm somewhat of a lazy baker.

I enjoy baked goods, I really do. Who doesn't?

But often I am so tired after all the grocery shopping, preparing breakfast and lunches and
then cooking dinner and washing up that by the time dessert comes around, I am plum tired.
Not to mention all the other things that go into running the house in addition to my job outside of the home.

It's exhausting being a grown up, ain't it?

So I am always looking for ways to make my favorite desserts a little faster.

I have a 'from-scratch' recipe for this that I really enjoy.
But I don't make it that often because it takes more time and energy than I sometimes have.
So this quicker recipe is my solution and yes, it starts off with a boxed cake mix.

I think a country song needs to be made up about boxed cake mixes.

Anyone out there got a steel guitar I can borrow?
Ingredients:
For the Blondies
1 box yellow cake mix
2 large eggs
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

For the Sauce
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
6 tbsp. maple syrup
2 tbsp. butter, melted

For the Sauce
In a small bowl, using a whisk, combine sweetened condensed milk with melted butter and maple syrup. Stir well.
If you want to serve this sauce warm, just pop bowl into microwave and nuke it for a few seconds until warm.

Serve blondie squares with ice cream and drizzle with warm maple butter sauce.
Cook’s Note: You can use any type of chocolate pieces you like with this.

Enjoy!

Who doesn't cheat from time to time?! I always keep a few boxed mixes on hand because you can whip up just about anything with them. My favorite to keep around is the Betty Crocker Pound Cake Mix.

Wow this looks amazing! And a perfect quick dessert, we all have those days where cooking from scratch is just definitely not going to happen. But with a delicious blondie like this who cares!

This is too funny, because just a couple nights ago my husband and I were talking about how I wished I had a good blondie recipe!?! (I've never made them...) Whaala! Here it is! Thanks so much for baking this and sharing with us. There's no shame in box mix! Just means I'll make it more often. :)

This looks alot like that dessert at Applebee's that they serve on a sizzling plate. That's our favorite dessert there. Definitely trying this. It's a big pro to me that it uses a mix!

I order a dessert similiar to this every time I go to Applebee's. Now I can make this at home without the sizzling plate. What a great recipe and the shortcuts make it more appealing. I can't wait to try this sometime.

The Applebee's dessert is one of my husband's favorites. It will score me big "blondie" points if I can make this at home.
It would be great to make a batch of these to freeze and pull out for dessert quickly. Do you think the sauce would freeze with good results, or would it seperate and get watery?

I am quickly becoming a fan of these shortcut recipes. They are just as good (if not even better) than the long versions but sooooo much easier! This blondie recipe looks so good!

I'm a lazy baker myself. Yesterday I made brownie cupcakes that Giada made, starting from a box. So . . . good enough for her, great for me.
