I am so excited to share this next amazing cook with y'all. If you don't know her, you are about to and I promise you won't forget her after you see this recipe she is sharing today! Her name is Judy and she writes for her blog, The Southern Lady Cooks.
She is a Kentucky girl who knows her way around the kitchen.
I drool over her photos and her recipes. She cooks the kind of food we all love to eat. Take one look at her blog and you'll see what I'm talking about. Judy is one of the most kind and wonderful women you'll ever meet. She's a true Southern Belle. I would love to have her living next door to me so I could pop over, have a cup of coffee, and just chat (and maybe eat a goodie, or two, or three). I was so thrilled when she said she would guest blog here at The Country Cook today.
So now, I'm gonna turn it over to Judy...

Brandie's fantastic blog, The Country Cook. Thank you to Brandie for
inviting me. Brandie's blog is one of my very favorites.
My name is Judy and my blog is called, "The Southern Lady Cooks". I am
retired from state government in my state of Kentucky. I have three
beautiful grownup children, a son and twin daughters, and a cutie pie
grandson, age 3, that we call Tater Tot. Blogging, along with lots of
other hobbies, keeps me busy. I love meeting new people and love to
cook down home Southern recipes. Southern folks love company, love to
eat and love the South and that is what my blog is all about.
I hope you will enjoy the recipe I am bringing to you today. This
recipe has been around for a long time because it is such a great
cake! Butter cake is very moist and the rum just makes it even
better.
Kentucky Butter Cake with Rum Sauce
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 sticks butter, softened
2 teaspoons rum or vanilla flavoring
1 cup buttermilk
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
In a large bowl cream sugar, eggs, butter, and buttermilk together
with mixer. Add flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and vanilla
or rum and mix. Pour batter into a well-sprayed bundt pan or pan of
your choice. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 55 to 60 minutes
until done. Let cool in the pan at least 30 minutes before removing.
Rum Sauce
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
3 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons rum or vanilla flavoring (can use more rum if you want)
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until
fully melted. Do not boil! Pour over cake. (Note: I take a skewer
and poke holes in the cake, then use a turkey baster to put sauce into
holes but you can just pour it over the cake) The cake will soak up
the sauce. YUMMY! Enjoy
