FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
I like the bone-in pork chops for this recipe. I find that it really gives this dish a lot of flavor but if you prefer boneless you can certainly do that. But I definitely do not recommend a thin cut pork chop. Just be careful when taking them out when they are finished cooking. The meat will be very tender so I like to scoop them out with a spatula.
My absolute favorite side dish with this is mashed potatoes. Rice or egg noodles are also good. I also like to serve it with some steamed vegetables. (like broccoli or carrots) and maybe some Butter Swim Biscuits!
I don’t recommend cooking on high. The meat will not come out as tender. Cooking it low and slow will ensure fall-apart tender pork chops.
You can pretty much us any cream soup your family enjoys. Cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of onion, cream of mushroom and chicken will all work here.
You could definitely season with pepper but I don’t recommend salt as there is enough salt in the other ingredients.
Where applicable, you could certainly substitute with those options. I prefer low sodium options here because we’re also using packets of pork gravy and onion soup mix which also have sodium in them.
It’s totally optional but I really think the gravy works better when thickened.
I find this recipe works better in an oval slow cooker instead of a round one. The chops cook more evenly.
Store leftovers in an airtight container and put into the refrigerator. Eat within two days. I don’t recommend freezing leftovers.

HOW TO MAKE TO MAKE CROCK POT PORK CHOPS
In a 5-6 quart slow cooker, combine onion soup mix, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup and pork gravy mix. Whisk together until combined. Don’t worry about any lumps, they will go away during cooking. Season both sides of the chops with a little bit of garlic powder.
Place pork chops into the slow cooker. Do your best to spread them out and cover with the gravy mixture. Cover and cook on low about 4-6 hours
Just before the pork chops are done. Whisk together the corn starch and cold water in a small bowl.
Once it is smooth, pour it in with your pork chops in the slow cooker and stir gently. Cover and switch the slow cooker to high and cook for another 30 minutes (until gravy has thickened.) Then serve with mashed potatoes!

Notes
- This is one of those fix-it and forget it type crock pot recipes. It helps to have a digital crock pot these days. You can cook it for a certain amount of time so and then it will automatically go to a keep-warm setting.

I’m playing Mr Mom while my wife is down after surgery. I found this while desperately looking for easy meals. It’s awesome! The chops fell apart on the fork and melted in our mouths. Now everybody thinks Daddy can cook.
Delicious, as always! I used thick cut bone-in pork chops, cream of chicken soup with mushrooms and fresh sliced mushrooms added about two hours before the end. The thick chops did require a full six hours, but it was worth it — when I asked my husband to taste test, they fell apart on the fork. 🙂 Served it with boursin mashed potatoes and steamed baby carrots with honey, and it was a huge hit. Thank you so much for sharing!
Sounds AMAZING! Next time invite me over – ha!
My family loves this recipe so much that I had to do more than pin it! I had to print it out in case I ever lost it so I and my daughter could never forget how to make such an easy and tasty pork chop recipe.
Thanks
This is so amazing so tender no knife necessary. Thank you so much. Will definitely make again.
Can I use canned pork gravy ? I don’t have any of the dry gravy packets , except for brown gravy.
Also I don’t have any cornstarch, is that a must or can it go without ?
I suppose you could but I’ve never made it that way so I honestly couldn’t tell you how it will turn out. Perhaps someone else on here has and can let us know how it went.
We have a larger family. Can this recipe be doubled? if so how does that change the cooking time?
It could be doubled, but I’ll be honest, I have not tried it so I can’t give you timing. I don’t like to guess unless I’ve tried it myself. Just make sure you are using a large enough slow cooker so these cook evenly. Perhaps someone else has doubled it and can give us an idea about timing 🙂
I love this recipe. I have cooked it a dozen of times in the slow cooker but wanted to see if anyone has done it in the instant pot and for how long and what temp? Thank you
can you use cream of mushroom instead since ran out of cream of chicken soup
Yes that would be just fine
Absolutely delicious. Great gravy!
I have made this recipe before and loved it!! My question is…can you make this as a freezer meal?
I am making this for dinner tonight and we can’t wait to try it. Something different, ya know. Instead of the same ol’ same ol’. The only thing that I will be adding is some fresh ground pepper to the chops and some fresh thyme to the “gravy” mixture since I have an abundance of it in my little terracotta pot.
I made this for dinner tonight. I used boneless chops and beef broth and it turned out amazing. The problem i was having was deciding if i should serve it with rice, mashed potatoes or stuffing… I will make this again for sure.
Could you do chicken breasts instead of the pork chops? I do not like pork chops unfortunately.
I have a recipe with chicken, here it is 🙂 https://www.thecountrycook.net/crock-pot-chicken-and-gravy/
This was delicious thank you!!!!
Yay!! So happy to hear that – thank you Sarah!
This was so good. It will be in our dinner rotation!
Delicious…and love it’s in the crockpot. This is a keeper..
Thanks so very much, Pat!
I made this recipe for the first time tonight and it was absolutely amazing! I am a bad cook and I’m not too proud to admit it so my family was pleasantly surprised when I served this. Awesome recipe and I will definitely make this often. I followed your instructions exactly as you listed. Thank you soo much for being happiness to my families taste buds
This is what I am here for Amber! I love providing easy (but good!) recipes to families who are busy or who just don’t love to cook. So you made my day with your comment!!
This recipe was absolutely delicious! I use cream of mushroom soup, sliced onions and diced mushrooms and it turned out so good. This has become a family favorite and I love to make this dish. I do a side of mashed potatoes, and another fresh veggie.
We loved this! So easy to make and it turns out exactly as described. My husband is picky but this had his approval to add it to our list of meals to make.
That is so great to hear!! I love when a recipe gets the approval from the picky eaters in the family. And it’s almost always the men who are picky for some reason. LOL
We had this for dinner tonight. I used 4 one-half inch thick boneless chops. Cooked them in the crock pot on low for 4-1/2 hours, added the cornstarch and cooked on high for 30 minutes. It turned out beautifully and delicious with perfect gravy. I served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Everyone loved it! Going on my “dinner’s list.”
Very easy prep, and delightfully delishous.
I just want to say thank you! I cook for a long term care home and used this recipe to replace one that was not going over well. Both the staff serving and the residents consuming it loved it! I am so happy. Thank you!
Can this recipe be made in the oven? I’ve made this several times and love this recipe but I’m in the middle of moving and can’t find my oval crockpot
I am sure you certainly could but I haven’t tested it so I am always hesitant to try and guess how to do it if I haven’t personally tried it. However, maybe someone on here has tried it and can let us know how it went for them!
